I'm a bit excited. I have a feeling about this team. They're going to play lose and hard. Feels like we have def jumped in talent levels. I think we surprise people.

quote:

'He's that guy:' 5-star freshman Amaris Williams turns heads early in Auburn camp

'He just wants to run through your face. He's just powerful. I don't even know how to explain.'

"He's that guy," buck linebacker Jalen McLeod said. "I'm going to say it right now, he's that guy. I said it about Keldric (last year), and y'all saw what Keldric's doing. Amaris, he's that guy. He's just got to mature. And once he does, yeah, he's that guy. That's all I'm going to say. I can't explain."

I love the fluff pieces too, but have to keep reminding myself they do these articles every year

Can’t get my expectations too unrealistically high, yet. Need to save that for the last week before kickoff, can’t burn out too early

aTm at 4 is a little shocking. I know there is talent still there and I love their choice for coach but first years systems seem to have issues most of the time

Naw, I get that. This team feels close. Doesn't seem like we've had a really close team in a while.

Close teams play well.

Go Crazy,

The interesting thing, those are quotes from peers. I listened to those interviews of DBs, receivers etc.

A few take aways. At safety Jerrin Thompson has one spot but definitely a battle of three others for other spot. JC Hart is the fastest guy on the team, difference this year, he knows how to play corner and will be a big contributor. Jalen Crawford will be very good, came in well coached with all the skills, and also very fast, just needs to be a little stronger.

Interesting note, Kayin Lee made the comment Crawford just needed to be stronger at the line and use his hands to check. They then asked about covering and he said of course Coleman, and then he said but Perry man he is the dog. I got the succinct impression the 6 foot 3 222lb Perry didnt take too kindly to being "checked" at the line of scrimmage.

Defensive players mentioned Jerimiah Wright a lot as a different player. Interesting our OL coach in an interview had said the same thing. And Wright in his interview said it. Being flipped back and forth on the lines, coming off 7 months with the knee injury, his head just wasnt in it last year and it showed. But he is definitely on a mission now and is showing.

Perry Thompson has better wheels, that would have been a basket catch for him

Auburn media just posted a vid of Perry making a diving one-handed catch in the end zone.

Im officially going full Barner now. 14-0 ship

Simmons needs to be talked about. Someone asked Freeze about him playing defense, and he quickly said no, that they need him on offense.

In the real game that catch will get brought back thanks to clipping or something.

8-5 ship!
