Yes he did and he was an All American also. Played in the 70's. As far as Cam being the best player ever, that is debatable.

I am not saying Cam wasn't good or what he did that year wasn't great but going overboard on a jersey number that isn't retired. Let the kid wear it. But remind him that he needs to live up to it.

I’m So over Cam. He’s my favorite player ever and the GOAT on the field. Off the field, he’s annoying as hell and not very smart. His answer “frick no” is so classless.

I’m sorry cuss words from a pro athlete hurt your feelings.

He gave several reasons why. Everything about earning it, building your own legacy etc. And told Deuce he wants him to do well.

Good grief if we are comparing a damn kicker to Auburn’s best player ever. Are you serious. It’s about respect and respect should be given. Cam gave us a Natty. First one in over 50 years.

Please show some respect.

When did you all get so daft?

CLEARLY Auburn has prioritized not giving anyone #2, #7, #34 & #88 again UNLESS Cam, Bo, The Sullivan Family & The Beasley Family allows it.

If they don't, cool. If they do, cool. But this is CLEARLY Auburn's doing. Or else someone would have worn the numbers.

Keep treating your best players ever like shite and see where it gets you.

Auburn folks are just stone stupid sometimes.

I think he should wear number 22 in honor of Gabe Gross and call him Double Deuce

So you’re OK with some rando players on offense wearing 7, 88, or 34 dude?

Or are you just a fricking idiot or hater?

hilarious people think the Heisman numbers aren't retired - even if not officially recognized as such.

Look up the last time 7, 34, or 2 was worn.

And this Aairon Savage argument is dumb as hell. He was wearing 2 before Cam came in, and they let him keep his number until his eligibility expired. Since then 2 hasn't been worn. I wonder why that is......

Jang, what in the eff are you talking about? Did Neil O’whateverthefuk play at Auburn?

We talking Auburn.

If Cam doesn’t want Deuce to wear #2, the guy should absolutely respect that. Take care of people who take care of Auburn.

I didn't say anything?

I used his own words to call his own argument crazy. Cam's number needs protection as does the other Auburn legends.

And neither should of Cam.

If Cam had something to say to Deuce he could of used the phone and said, "Hey man, show me what you got". But instead we got Mama Grace grand standing in a Pharrell Williams hat. Which is a bad look in a lot of ways. Deuce would have appreciated the call and Number 2 would of better made his point.... instead of looking like a publicity seeking clown.

Some of you are as big of drama queens as you claim Cam to be.

Cam is in the media business and wants to be seen and that is fine. His appearance is fine to me. His #2 opinion is fine

I absolutely think we should retire numbers of anybody with a heisman or a statue. If we run out of numbers due to future badasses we will happily take the loss and go to digits.

What I disagree with is the suggestion that Cam's attire is normal in today's society. Maybe 2% of the world aspire to be a 6'5 beast dressing like Mary Poppins or Willy Wonka. Cam has that little extra in hispersonality as evidenced in his writing so that is fine.

My thoughts are complete.

Edit: If we were to use numbers of prestige similar to what LSU does that would be okay too. Just don't treat the number as an ordinary number.

This is small subset of a sports forum and opinions are what we do... just like you did.

He was actually done in 2010... got hurt in the middle of the season. Cam was the last player to wear #2

I really don't care what number they wear. If they choose to wear that number or the school allows them to wear it then live up to it. That is the challenge on them.

If they choose another number then own it and do something great.

I just find it funny that people get so triggered about it.
