When is the last time we’ve been able to do that? And sign an elite QB? Never. This is too great of an opportunity to let this go

Do you think on his wish list is to be named the starter, given the position without any competition?

Im talking financially too. I dont know where that speculation came from.

I’m talking about giving him what he’s asking for in a reasonable manner, not to the detriment of everything else
I agree with this

I’m not discounting Juju at all. I want him at Auburn as much as any fan. Hell I donate to On to Victory and I absolutely hate the NIL rules.

There are zero and I mean zero guarantees when it comes to transitioning from high school to college and/or college to the pros. That’s my point.

The On3 crew had a great discussion on Charles Kelly. The conversation made me think as they were comparing his proof of development to similar to UGA’s development for the pros. I can now understand why Zach and Caddy were let go. Nix and Kelly have a much deeper record of development of players. It also reduces the amount of NIL money you have to spend because players will know they will be developed by their coach.

We have done this 3 times in the past 15 years.

Cam
Stidham
Bo

They were all absolutely elite top tier recruits. Add Jason Campbell in the early 2000’s. That’s a lot of 5 star QBs in a 20ish year period for a team that historically doesn’t throw the football

Two of those we pulled out of very fortunate circumstances and the third we screwed up royally. But two of those cases led to us being competitive. We haven’t had much besides a gaping hole in substitution rules to show for ourselves offensively otherwise.

The success or failure of Freeze will be what he gets done at the QB position. Right now, it’s pretty poor. If he needs to spend “Broome money” to address it, that’s the price to play at the big boys table, now. If we have those resources, we need to use them. If we don’t, spend it on basketball where the dollar goes farther.

Freeze has always gotten a lot out of his QBs and his best was probably Chad Kelly. He didnt require 5 stars; he needs a good fit.

When was the last time we had a top 3 recruiting class, with a 5 star QB included in the class?

That’s not the case here but are you even fine with that?

IF KJ Lacey signs with Texas, he’ll never start there imo

Aight I’m done answering these hypothetical dumb questions.

I want Juju and think we are in a good a spot as anyone to land him.

Not even sure why a kid still committed to another school needed his own thread outside of the recruiting thread anyway

He won’t. I think he ends up with AU or SC.

Raiola is not a GA kid and just got to college.

Vandagriff we'll see how he doe this year.

Brice Ramsey was not a 5 star.

Trevor Lawrence won a natty and #1 pick.

Justin Fields took his team to a natty high 1st round pick.

Davis Mills was a 3rd round draft pick.

You left off Deshaun Watson who won a natty and high 1st round pick.

So all four GA QBs who have finished their college careers were drafted in the first three rounds, three in the first round, two won national championships, one took his team to two playoffs and a national championship.

Like I said. More important position on the team.

Respectfully, he plays for Joey King who developed Trevor Lawrence. Lewis takes snaps from shotgun formation.

We'll see what Thorne looks like this year in what should be a more cohesive offense - they clearly like him enough to not have bothered to recruit over him.

Exactly

I’ve said this until I’m blue about Thorne. His adjusted completion percentage is actually high.

That means a lot of incompletion were either flat out dropped or should have been caught by the HB/WR/TE.

Many games could have been put away if our guys hard tar on their hands. UGA and Bama are clearly two.

Bo Nix was prime example getting better WR’s can improve your stock. With that said, Thorne does need
To work on his progressions and releasing the ball quicker.

Agreed fully.
I think we have saved NIL $$$ for this young man. The ROI would be immediate nationally with recruits.
His camp left with a final number from Aubie as well as Aubie’s plan moving forward with his development should he chose the good guys.
Last years WR haul, OL haul currently and continuing to build, improvement on defense, program stability and lastly this STAFF, we are in good shape for one if not the most highly touted QB recruit in Auburn history with a staff that know what they are doing.
I would like to think there is a good, respectful relationship between the two camps and both are being honest and straight up with each other with the understanding business is business in this sport now.

I jokingly say he was not responsible for covering Bowers against UGA and he was not a defensive back on the field for a certain 4th down play,
Kid had them both.

Yep.. I blocked the losses out, but IIRC, the UGA game we dropped a pass that would have sealed the game and not let them make the comeback.

Bama we dropped a sure fire TD in the back of the end zone they would have solidified the Iron Bowl.

Take away the N Mex. St. blunder, this should have been a 9-3 team heading into the Bowl game.

Ramsey was a 5 star and Watson wasn’t.

Watson was the number 81 recruit in the country.

Raiola is definitely from Buford, Ga.

I’ve come to the opinion that people don’t care if their stats or statements are correct just make it. So there yall go
