Our Defensive line has played well this year so far. I think they have answered the call. SO FAR.

This weekend against thUGA I think our DL is more important then Tank, Bo, Hunter whoever.

It's the only chance we have to stop that machine in Athens. If the UGA OL is able to win 1 on 1's and the TE's and Guard are able to move up to the linebackers then we are in deep trouble. However If we can continue to get tackles for a loss and let Zakoby run around and make plays we may can keep it close in the first half and hopefully keep them to a couple field goals or something.

We aint marching down the field against that defense on a consistent basis. We need a WR or the entire group to play completely out their mind whether it be the short game or deep shots. Someone has to become the Alpha there.

This is my edition of convince me how we have a shot...

Seems reasonable enough to me. Their offense isn’t terrifying like their defense.

Played well ?

Not sure I'm seeing the same thing, but I do it for fun, not a living.

2me ...DL's going to need to play the opposite game plan this week. LSU wasn't a running threat and Georgia is going to attempt a land invasion. So it'll be interesting to see what they've learned from their Georgia State shortcomings (*and they just had that one RB). If we can make them throw I'm hoping it'll become a much more enjoyable show.

Also can't give up another 4 1st-downs by penalty, because Georgia's not going to return the favor, so got to be more disciplined.

We need the crowd to be shattering eardrums as well.

I expect it to be. This is the first big game since Iron Bowl 2019. Everyone should be fired up.

They’ve been solid all around. They have been very good against the run and okay at rushing four. They were much better last game rushing four but that’s because we had Hall standing up rushing from all over. They are not good in a 3 man rush but few guys are.

Corch is dead on that on Saturday they don’t have to be making every play, they just need to be good enough to keep the OL out of the second level and let the LBs do their thing.

Auburn is #5 rush defense in the country. Without the first half of the GSU game, they’d be #2.

Agreed. If Mason comes out running that 3 Dlinemen set, they will shove it down our throats. Shut thUGA run game down, and they are not going to score much.

I think we may see a lot of the base 3-4. There may only be 3 “down” linemen, but I think we see guys like Leota standing up on the line.

No answer today from Harsin. Day to Day. Said they were hoping he could play last Saturday and hoping he can play this Saturday.

Did he run into the chains against Penn State?

The chain gangs at the sea games are slow on the drop. I’ve seen several players run into the down marker or stick.

I did it as a freshmen is high school. Referee told us, “if the play starts toward you, drop the sticks and run toward the fence.”

Evidently he had seen some chain gangs get plowed over by the pile.

yes the DL has played very well so far except for one half against GA State.

We are 2nd in the country in tackles for a loss and 8th in the country in rush defense. Not sure in the first year of a new system how much more you could ask for. Plus how many DL did we lose to transfer this year (Truesdel, Lil Kitty, Hardy, Handy, Newkirk) plus injury to Jeremiah Wright. Regardless of what you think of those players that's a lot of talent out he door to restock in one off season.

Luv you guys, but everyone knows numbers and cents don't always add up.

And I can only hope this team understands their vaulted ranking is predicated upon playing three little sisters of the poor, two who took it up the whazoo, and one that said hell no we ain't playing bent over for no one. The three of you pushing number 2 (or 5 or 8 or top whatever) ratings may know more about football; however basing how our defense ranks against a nearly deflated LSU (with practically no QB) and these three cellar dwellers is not the way to convince me we're great.

And all you have to do is watch the game thread unfold, to see not everyone here is as enamored with our defensive play, not while the shite is actually hitting the fan.... or read almost the first thing ( link) that popped up in a (last 7day) search.

Throughout the season, not just against Penn State, there have been missed assignments, poor pursuit angles, and plays where the defensive backs don’t seem to know where to line up. With a trip to LSU coming up this weekend, Auburn’s defense is going to have to figure some things out before they face off against Max Johnson and LSU’s potent passing attack.

(etc - parts for the grammar police)

Our DL is critical to controlling the LOS.

IF Ga's run game dominates, then we are in trouble, bc they will also play action us to death.

If we can control the run game, they are not going to dominate passing the ball.

But their Defense is what is dominant. To have a chance we have to get into the RZ fairly consistent to get enough points to win.
