Expected to opt out of bowl game per Marcello. J Simpson is battling a hamstring and may follow suit. No word from Pritchett

I hate that shite. Bowl games may seem meaningless to some, but they are a national recognition game. Losing to Maryland would be embarrassing. Sadly, Auburn is making it a habit of losing bowl games and it sucks.

these games go into the history book; not the asterisks that say our best players opted out

After what happened in the iron bowl he's going to opt out? That's weak

Not great. I dont blame DJ for the last play, but he already accepted the invite for the senior bowl. Is he looking after himself or is he looking after himself.

It happens. He wasn’t coming back next year anyway. It’ll be a good chance to get these young DB’s some seriously meaningful reps. They’ll get to look at a lot of balls in the air.

isnt the purpose for opting out saving yourself from injury? The senior bowl has injuries all the time.

Not surprised the game has changed like I said unless you are in the playoffs the bowl games are meaningless now.

Just wait expected first rounders after their season appears their team won’t make the playoffs they will start opting out of regular season games as well.

Not like he couldn’t use the good performance for his draft stock

The fricking senior bowl is more meaningless if you ask me. He is already pegged a second or third rounder and we have something called a Pro Day for him to get all the scout exposure. He didnt need that Senior Bowl.

The NIL deals need better worded language.

The senior bowl is a working draft analysis. Pro coaches all scouts there. Yes for the university it’s meaningless but for the player outside of a 1st rounder it means everything. You could see a swing in 2 rounds upward with a great week

I’m not saying I like it at all but I understand it. We are a minor league now.

It was a privilege to play college sports 30 years ago. At big boy universities that produce NFL players that is every players goal to get to the NFL now. Just look at the baseball contract just signed $700 million. 20 years ago you could buy entire franchises for less

DJ James doesn't need the Senior Bowl. Like I said he is already predicted to be a top three round pick. He also has film against the SEC. He doesn't need the week long dog and pony show to show what he has. If he is concerned about injuries then dont play. If he wants to play then he needs to prove himself for the team that gave him the chance to play himself up to the NFL.

That’s just not how it works now. Not disagreeing with you just telling you what reality is.

That’s why I posted the thread about bowl games being meaningless and should coaches be judged on bowl game wins and losses. The only ones that matter are playoff games.

Heck Texas backup QB is in the portal. The 2nd string guy. 1 play away from playing and has left the team to go into the portal.

This is the new game. When you let it become pro, you get pro attitudes and without some paid contract to specify bowl participation, this will be a problem everyone faces.

Maybe the play book should be wide open for these kind of bowls.
