It is what it is.

In 1974, Thomas Gossom was forced out of bounds on a go route. He’s scored to put AU up, but it was called back because he was forced OB.

The rule is different now and we beat MSU in 2013 after CJ was forced out and Cool Hand Nick tossed its to him.

It would be funny if Alabama lost a game because replay with under 2 seconds.

Can someone explain the rationale behind that? Because honestly all I can think of is Saban's a bitch.

What purpose is there to just erase time off the clock if replay determines that time should actually be back on?

At the very least it should be one untimed play.

Does this apply to the second half or just the first? Or is it up to Saban's discretion after he sees whether the play he runs at the end of the game works or fails?

The rationale was the rules committee constantly gets hounded by a particular coach and they finally gave in.

If there’s time on the clock and a replay gets initiated then the time should be left on the clock. That’s going to screw someone out of a potential game winning kick in the near future

Actually the NEW rule makes sense, but the rules in 2019 allowed the clock to start on the officials whistle, so hearing Bama fan cry over it again is worth the rule change.

So what if the team has a timeout left? Does this rule still apply?

If the clock runs out and the replay deems that there is time left on the clock, say 2 seconds or even 1 second. The team should be able to call a timeout, stopping the clock at what the review says should be left.

If you have a timeout I assume you can still use it. This rule is a fair rule. It would eliminate a team using replay as a timeout to get into position. if you go out of bounds then you would still get the split time to get to the line.

There is no penalty and no clock stopped because a Ref needed to sneeze. No untimed down.

My bet is two things happened in the rues committee.

1. The desire to shut Saban up.

2. The perpetual argument about when the clock operator presses the button. Start of the whistle, mid whistle, post whistle, does the arm motion to start initiate it?

You can't imagine the conversations that take place in Officiating meetings on something as simple as starting a clock.
