I think Arnold is done unless Deuce just falls on his face and throws up on himself.

Durkin said they're both gonna play. But past the Mercer game, I'd say Arnold is done at Auburn.

My one reservation about him starting is what if he plays badly?
That's exactly why you start him in a game like Mercer.

It's much better than whatever experience he'd gain with a few garbage minutes in a game already won. And the risk of failure would also be greater against what would most likely be a more talented team. It's not like we shouldn't be able to overcome one quarter. And the first 5-6 plays would be scripted so that'd help ease him in to the flow of a game. You'd pick from his strong points and have much less pressure than most any other time.

And yes there's the Jeremy Johnson fears.. but now the time to see that abnormality. Plus JA would still be present in case of unexpected need.

He hasn’t had an opportunity to do anything yet.

Why can’t yall just be excited about the opportunity? If he sucks he sucks, if he balls he ballls. Why question it before it happens?

We’ll see how he handles the spotlight. Maybe a number one with a reasonable play caller, he’ll shine.

Now that he knows what it’s like to play in front of 85,000.

Now is the time to quiet the butterflies and show what’s capable.

Here’s the question. What if Deuce absolutely shows out? I mean just kills it?

And what happens if Ashton kills it the following week during the IB? It might be hard to keep Deuce out of the portal if it looks like Ashton could be the guy next year. What’s the upside of creating game film of Deuce in action having a monster game, even if it’s against Mercer? Why dangle that bait out there with all the sharks circling, whispering in his ear that he doesn’t have to be the number 2 guy next year?

Biggest risk is if Duece comes out and doesnt play well and the game gets tricky and hes got to be pulled.

There could be upside to that as well, you may find out if he is your future or not.

Absoutely, Im not losing Ashley for all next season for a win against them, Id rather lose the game.

Besides let Arnold at least earn 50 cents of that mil and a half we paid him.

how humiliating would it be if doesn't and we lose to freaking Mercer?

I was a student at Auburn where we were ranked, favored to win, and Tennessee skull dragged us 42-0. And yes in the end I was cheering, along with the whole student section when Tennessee scored. That was embarrassing to watch, losing to Mercer, not so much.

We are paying the Deuce is playing, lets see what he has.

I was there, in the student section. We were throwing ice at the Tennessee players each time they scored in that end zone.

Miserable day

i was there as well

someone brought a bag of oranges and were throwing them at the Vols when they came out before the game, at halftime when they were up 21-0 and had thoroughly dominated us, as the were running off towards the lockerroom one of them picked up one of the smashed oranges and rubbed it all over his helmet in defiance

for some reason thats the only distinct memory i have of that game, other than it was miserably hot and i left midway thru the 4th to go to the Baskin Robbins for a chocolate almond cone

oh, and the gal who served it to me was really cute

So is Arnold just an uncoachable douche?

Uncoachable Douche?…or just another bust in long line of overhyped/underperforming Auburn QB’s?…

It’s ALL “business” these days. The kid’s check cleared the bank, he’s better off for it, Auburn football took the hit for it. Time to part ways with Mr Arnold and attempt to develop a better ROI with our other QB’s currently on our payroll.

It ain’t personal…it’s just good business.

That’s just the new reality and paradigm of college football these days.

And although that reality and paradigm may suck-arse in our respective & collective opinions, if the kid’s check “clears the bank”?…it’s then all ALL up to them to either EARN all the praise they’re due if they perform, or EARN all the criticism they have to take when they shite the bed.

There is absolutely nothing Deuce could show against Mercer that would make me think he is more Bama ready than Ashton

You're probably right, he's not as accurate as Ashton.
