Basically. Apparently Freeze has a guy in a similar capacity at Liberty who’s rumored to be coming

Fabianich’s full title: Auburn Football General Manager and Director of Scouting and Development

it's a new position but been around a while tho. It used to be like an asst to the head coach off the field. Now it's turned into part of the recruiting and Auburn's last GM was responsible for identifying extremely young talent like 8th and 9th graders plus potential portal entries and evaluation

There is if he projects RD4 or later. He can then take the NIL money which would be as much as RD4 or later and improve his stock...the only problem with that is the trade off of losing a year before getting that 2nd contract.

I'm not sure, but I think I saw something about the off field guys being here already and the DL coach too.

He would have to be on the field coach if we are planning on recruiting his school. I hope the rumor is inaccurate.

Is that rule still in place?

I asked earlier this year and got no answer

They better not overpay a staff if the guys aren't worth it just bc they have that much for a staff. Put the extra in the NIL and get some players out of the portal.

I think they are mulling it over and possibly could address it on a 1v1 basis

Just checked: and I hate lawyer language that gives me a headache.

It seems it still exists although this newest rule allows current coaches on staff the flexibility to move about.

quote:

As to the specific language, FootballScoop obtained this from the NCAA:
Intent: In basketball and bowl subdivision football, to specify that the definition of an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete does not include an individual who maintained (or directed others to maintain) contact with a prospective student-athlete (or a prospective student-athlete's relatives, legal guardians or coaches) only while employed in the athletics department at another four-year institution; further, to specify that an institution may reassign an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete from a countable coaching staff position to a noncoaching staff position or strength and conditioning staff position, provided the individual has been a countable coach at the institution for the previous academic year.

And Raberns, I agree. The DL hire is underwhelming. No need to worry about salary pool at this point. This DL dude is no Garner and I’m a proud CRG cocksucker.

Who determines that?

When Saban signed his first $4m/yr deal I lost my mind that no coach at any level was worth it. 10 years later for any Big program that is way under paid

I’m happy for those DL. It’s still Liberty vs Liberty peers though.

Willing to believe he might be good but as we’ve stated often…just don’t think Auburn is a learn-as-you-go kind of job.

Thank you for saying this. So people on here are going to prop up Freeze and what he did at Liberty and with Malik and say how good of an offensive guy he is but won’t get on board with a position coach who has shown that he can produce at the FBS level and has NFL coaching experience just because the FBS job was at Liberty?

That’s very possible.

Although if I’m propping up Freeze I’m doing it like a safety holding the ball carrier up so Reuben Foster can clean up with one of those launching tackles though.

I don’t know zilch about those players. It looks like they have talent, and money for talent. The guy is young. Did you know about this guy before tonight? Will he be one of the better DL coaches in the SEC? Can he recruit? There are a lot of questions you must ask yourself before you go homer

Garner was once a no name too. If Freeze has the financial backing to hire a name, and still chooses this guy, I gotta stand by that. Lot's of hungry arse coaches out there. Some are the next Garner and Rocker.
