He gets his own choices. We then either praise/criticize his choices. Then they prove us right/wrong.

It’s not melting to criticize his choices. If you want everybody to sit back and wait and see the results then there wouldn’t be any posting on this board.

I agree criticism of hires is open game and really is okay with me but some even admit they are melting so…

And you’re right about expecting others to wait. They don’t have to and I don’t really expect it. I will give hell to someone that said they are done with Auburn football though.

It’s also my right to disagree or agree.

Now, if I see grantham as a hire, then I will be right there with a lot of you. That would be a huge drag.

This is not directed at you, but we have posters saying he is already striking out. We don't even know the pitch count.

And I say this as someone who did not want Freeze.

Bullshite.. they want to win with a staff full of Auburn retreads. They aren’t willing to do what it takes to win. That’s pretty evident by the hires

Name the guys we rejected to keep those retreads. (Who appear to somehow be the most proven guys on the staff).

This is a common misconception but I don't think the evidence suggests that it's true at all.

That is really the comments I am talking about. How can we even know if he strikes out or he made a wrong choice?

My guess is more want it to be known up front so they can be like Lanier and be able to say I told you so if or when there is failure. Like he did for Harsin and to his credit he called it. Not suggesting he was wrong for throwing it out there. But Lanier also wasn’t constantly making the same comments in every thread. In fact he was gone for a while.

Based on what “Auburn Insiders” are saying? Do we really know he is striking out?

I really don’t know. So many names gets thrown out I don’t know what is solid and what isn’t. Is there any solid facts he has struck out on some guys?

I know he was after Luke but that was always going to be a tough sell for Freeze or any coach.

I don't understand the melting over the names so far.

This reminds me of Tuberville so far, except I think Tuberville brought his entire staff and just kept one guy in Joe Whitt instead of three. The similarities are that no one really could tell if Tub's staff was any good because they were at probation-addled Ole Miss, and the whole staff was young and inexperienced. Tubs and staff certainly overachieved given the lack schollies they had at their disposal at Ole Miss, but the entire staff was young IIRC so no one really knew what AU was getting.

Within the first 2-4 years Tubs either was encouraged (or did it himself) to get rid of Lovett (DC) and Mazzone (OC). Of the two it seemed that Mazzone was good, but he put alot of responsibility on the QB and after Leard we had mostly smooth brains as QB's. Tubs was hit or miss at OC with Petrino, Ems/Nall (sucked), then Borges who was hated by fans when hired, then Franklin who was hated by the AU staff. On defense it was good with Chizik, Muschamp, Gibbs & Rhodes. All were good except maybe Gibbs, who tried to fight Joe Whitt at practice among other things. He just never really fit.

What was my point? Oh yeah, Freeze's hires are young so far and time will tell. They seem good and I think he's plugged in within the coaching fraternity. I'm not too concerned.

Who, Caddy and Zac? Caddy…..who just saved the end of Auburn’s season and has been the only bright light in recruiting and would be a take on most every SEC team or Zac, who spurned UGA last year to stay at Auburn?

Yeah, those sure are shitty Auburn retreads

Harsin made me quit, too. I was still All Auburn that entire time, but, I just couldn't even with that guy...

eta I'm not saying that's why Lanier was gone...

Idk why people keep saying this. He's a football coach. He's a good one at that. It's not like he's been at it for 30 years. He's 46 years old, the same age as Lane Kiffin. I would bet a lot of money he will be back coaching within 2 years.* He can work for 10-15 more years and set up his grandkids grandkids. Him and his kids won't hurt for money, but he could set up a few generations with another 10 years work and retire before 60.

*Caveat being that he "retired to spend time with family" if he has some unpublicized medical condition.

Since when ?

If we are not striking out why don’t we have coordinators when the portal is open? We literally just struck out on Nix.

Man, some of y’all fricking suck.

Is it too much to ask to let it play out?… do we need the constant bitching about everything?

Some of y’all truly make this board miserable… that sucks bc this place is great source of info and dialogue…. But frick, some of folks here just shite in every thread.

Since always, but I have a right to disagree as well. You agree with that?

Or do you just want to be left alone with unbridled criticism of every move Freeze or Auburn makes?

Did we miss on Derrick Nix? As I saw not too many were too excited about him before he turned it down. Or did I miss everyone’s glowing praise of the offer?

Saying it because he is remaining retired for now. The guy just barely left the game. I mean sure he can change his mind later and have no doubt he just might. But it was apparently a tough sell for Freeze to lure him out, no?
