Well, that type of hire will definitely free up some $ and time for my house. I'll finally get off the fence about keeping season tickets and schlepping to watch terrible football.

We are unserious.

True. I don’t understand how people can be SO successful in their professional life and make such boneheaded decisions behind the scenes in the AD.

Pittman was a lifelong OL coach before Arkansas got desperate and hired him. Anyone comparing his resume to Kelly should have their head examined.

This is prime season for our fake insiders that didn’t know we were hiring Harsin or Freeze but will be right this time dammit

Kelly would be a garbage hire. Stop trying to dress up a pile of shite as if it can be anything other than a pile of shite.

I have very little doubt that we will fumble this next hire, again.

I think and hope your two people don’t have any inside information.

At least we know what we would be getting and would not be rolling the dice.

The Charles Kelly stuff is real, but I'll repeat what I've said before on this: Auburn has had lots of booster-liked pie in the sky candidates in the past, none of whom ultimately were hired as the head coach. Jeff Grimes. Bill Clark. Kevin Steele.

A hire like that still needs multiple rubber-stamps, and it isn't something that is easy to sell - hence why it doesn't end up happening.

Keep DJ Durkin and give this guy a call:

Tim Polasek. 23-2 at North Dakota State. Has coached at Wisconsin, Iowa, and Wyoming. Also coached offensive line. Maybe he could help Auburn learn how to block
Probably get him fairly cheap too!

This sounds like it would be the same sort of thinking as when we hired Chizik. We'd hire some journeyman figurehead that did what the money men want and then try and hire some all-star staff of recruiters. It would likely end the way Chizik's term ended: the all-star egos collapsing inward, chaos and even criminal behavior on the team and finally an implosion.

We have the absolutely stupidest approach to success in football. It's incredible we have even had the wins we've had.

At some point, I should probably acknowledge how often you settle me down. Consider this post as such...

I dont understand why it has to be a coach with ties to auburn etc. That hasn't been successful in the past. Bring in someone different and give them a chance. Auburn replaces coaches every 3 years anyway. Maybe you get lucky and hit lightning in a bottle. The retread route is getting ridiculous. There were multiple good coaches available when hugh was hired but for some reason they picked him. Maybe they were all on ashley madison together or something.

Charles Kelly being the leading candidate with James Franklin out there tells me AU is not serious about turning this shite around.
