Exactly. Great recruiting class, most of whom hit the portal these days after 1-2 years isn’t making up for the blithering mess of a first 12 months this has been. Not talking hot seat or anything, he deserves his shot to work it out like any coach does but I don’t feel good about this program right now. At all.

This is a good thing, it allows freeze to bring in his guys and not have to work around an AU icon.

He is a season in and Caddy is only a holdover from mediocrity. That is foolish.

Every program needs casual fans, and needs them in significant numbers to be elite. But casual fans (like those that insisted Auburn promote a former superstar player without coordinator experience to run a 9 figure sports enterprise) should never be near the actual decision-making process. What a colossal misstep that would have been. Thankfully, cooler and more experienced heads prevailed in that decision.

This is all going to be fine in time. For now it’s just another reason for the competition to laugh at Auburn. Culture changes don’t usually come without rock bottom. Hopefully Auburn is close to turning the corner.

Post more. This board needs it.

Given Freeze's past any kind of sexual scandal is going to illicit a strong response.

It's the perfect time to make the change if the rumors are true. Saban's retirement is a bigger story. The media won't be looking to make comparison's between Freeze's past and now.

If we need to ignore any rumor, then why would we need to wish he and his family prayer and healing? In doing so aren’t you implicitly validating the rumor?

That was my thought as well. The timing is actually pretty good for us, at least from the outside looking in. The recruiting class for 24 is basically signed and over with, Saban’s retirement will dominate this week’s news cycle, and there’s plenty of time to make up any potential lost ground with 25 recruits. Of course this news isn’t going to give any of us the warm fuzzies, but I think this could be good for the program in the long run. Time will tell, but some of the negabarners wandering around on here would make it seem like we are staring down the barrel of the NCAA death penalty.

What were the other rumors?!?

There were rumors that something was going on and those "rumors" were not good rumors. I can't really get into right now, but the rumors were not good rumors.

I'm talking about the pitiful on field product where not one aspect of our team improved, losing two coordinators, 2-3 position coaches, and potential staff scandals in one year? Do you really not see that?

Well if this happened, shouldn’t this be the result

LOL very fair point. But losing two coordinators in year 1 is just never a good sign with one giant exception (Nick Saban).

Dont stand too close while watching sausage get cooked. Circumstances can come to a head!

Do I wish the season went better yes. Do I think it takes real SEC athletes to win yes. I do not find it at all shocking that we we had first year misery. I fully expect us to be at least one more cycle of recruits better than the last year. If the team needs to get shaken up, do it.

As for Hugh losing both coaches that doesn't really bother me. They did not work out. I am concerned about losing ZE and that is about it.

I'm not concerned about losing any 1 of these 5 coaches. I'm concerned about losing 5 coaches. Not a good sign.

Don't care if the housekeeper loses the job. Just get the right fit.

Yep. It isn't ideal, but this is the time to do it. While we are still trying to turnover the roster and get in place what we want. Caddy and Zach aren't football related from the rumors going around.

So, in reality we lost 1 coordinator because he just sucked and 1 because he was mediocre and apparently a big time cancer to the staff. We took a gamble on them since Hugh wasn't very familiar with them, hoping they'd be able to really manage their side of the ball so Hugh could focus elsewhere. They couldn't. So they are gone.

Sure. And that might happen. All I'm saying is last season he hired 5 coaches who didn't work out. Why am I to believe that will change with these next 5 hires? And early turnover just isn't a good sign for coaches not named Nick Saban, ever. It's Jeremy Pruitt stuff.
