So we should credit some of Kirby’s success this year to Richt?
No. But there is a big difference in what the guy we are hiring is coming in to and what Smart came into.

LoL. No chance

Low chance, yes...but not outside the realm of possibility for Cohen. He was going to make a similar hire at MSU (Joe Judge) before Judge landed the Giants HC job.

Again, it's still Kiffin unless he just completely backs out of the agreement. But if it's not him, I don't think anyone knows who the #2 is which gives rise to Cohen making a Cohen hire. This is still his hire, nothing has changed from that perspective.

Brian Johnson has 6 years of experience in the SEC and was coaching in this conference just two seasons ago. He is seen as a future NFL HC among the NFL circles and is one of the brightest young offensive coaches in the game. He has recruiting success in the SEC and even signed a 5-star to Florida in the 2021 class.

He is the QB coach for the 9-1 Eagles and is largely seen as responsible for Jalen Hurts' development over the past two seasons. This would be a very high upside move.

OK. We can go your route and just keep hiring unproven HC's every 3 years and hope we win the lottery someday.

So we hire him, has success, splits on us. Pass.

We’re literally coming off of a coach who was a head coach for 7 years with a proven track record.

But giving some stupid notion that the only person that can succeed at AU has to have been a head coach before is simply that, stupidity.

So nobody still knows anything. It's still Kiffin unless it ain't and if not it'll be somebody that no one knows.

Kiffin could do the exact same thing. If that happens, they’re leaving us better than the found us and that should be seen as a good thing… right? Right.

And he was a gamble from the top school that's well above anyone in their conference and liked losing to Army. He wasn't impressive behind the numbers coming in. Not as bad as this year looking but not a great hire either. We just had to support him because it was out of the blue.

It's also stupid to gamble on an unproven guy because he's a smooth talker in an interview over proven sec coaches or at least at somewhere decent in college.

Don’t mind hoke mentioning him but I’m sure his attentions were to cause a stir by implying he’s next in-line for the job.

That's all they are doing right now. After this and the next coach hiring a staff, they won't be getting many clicks.

Dear god, he never said he would be next in line for the job. He just brought up a name that has interviewed.

If Kiffin were going to sign the extension wouldn't he do that between now and the kickoff of the Egg Bowl?

Actions speak louder than words. All we have now are the words he might stay if nothing else changes. OM should start worrying again

Last thing he said was everything is still a go. Nothing’s changed and it’s up to Kiffin now.
