I don’t get the Kiffin interviewing thing. Freeze I could see but if I’m Kiffin and I’m already coach at an SEC school, I don’t interview. If they ask for one, I tell them they either want me or they don’t and I don’t have time for that foolishness and going over a 53-point plan.

I don't know if the comments that Auburn hasn't offered is true if he is for sure their #1 target. Harsin has been gone since the beginning of the season and Lane was the first name (with Prime) to come out. The officials would have a blank check by the time they contacted him with a limit.
Something just seem off by why they are waiting and if they haven't offered a final deal yet. I know he or Sexton knows they arent going to go back and forth forever.

I don’t think Auburn will offer until the regular season for OM is over. That just seems to be how these ADs handle these things logistically.
Guarantee there have already been salary negotiations so Kiffin is probably aware of what that offer will be.

I know as much as you do but Lane has burned a lot of good will with OM people over the past several days.

Absolutely nothing about this is "off".
The SEC does not want it's members poaching coaches from each other as they are still in the process of coaching out the season. Lane Kiffin and Sexton have been in discussion with Auburn for weeks now; regardless of when the agreement was reached, it will be structured and presented as if it was OFFERED after the Egg Bowl. Period.
There are optics that are in play here that need to be maintained.
Also, to answer your second comment from your post below about how it makes no difference whatsoever for Auburn to hold this off: they are trying to do right with Cadillac Williams by letting him coach out the Iron Bowl without the entire week being about Lane Kiffin replacing him. This really isn't that hard to understand. On the flip-side, Lane Kiffin is not going to leave his team early, and your idea about him announcing it and then proceeding to coach out the remaining games is dumb because it's awkward for everyone involved.

Interviews also go both ways. You want to talk to the school you’re potentially going to and get a feel for things.
