It's not true and idiotic statements like this need to be retired. Stop flogging yourself you freaking p*ssy. This team plays for championships way more often than you want to realize, and yet p*ssy-arse Auburn fans like yourself can't seem to retire this "oh golly gee, we're gonna hire Eddie Gran like we always do! JABA" sad-sack bullshite.

I don't. Nothing about the way this is going looks anything like old Auburn, so I don't think there is much relevance there to draw from. If Cohen (who is running this search) says he has Lane Kiffin lined up, the boosters are not going to object. Period. Hugh Freeze is more complicated because Roberts needs to approve and no one knows how Cohen feels about him, but he's getting a lot of talk still so either he's being used as a smokescreen (possible) or Freeze is simply winning to much to make those guys throw him out as a candidate.

Everyone understands the position we're in with regards to importance of this hire, and actual leadership is finally in place. Again, they're not making these moves to end up at "well this guy likes X, and so and so likes Y...so let's compromise and get Charles Kelly!".

The AD search backs this up. We were always going after a power 5 AD, and that is not old Auburn.

You can’t be serious. That is how you end up with coaches like Harsin that look great on paper yet fit like a square peg in a round hole.

Use a firm to help with vetting, background checks, etc etc but no, the decision needs to be from Auburn.

This.

I’ll tell you this. The boosters were right about that goober Bryan Harsin. Dude was a complete loser.

Sometimes I wonder what they see in their choices. I would love to see their short lists and why for each choice the last few hires.

That's what you get from gambling on a person who looks good on paper just to try and get someone everyone would support. If a firm can't also look for someone who will fit in then they aren't good at their job. That's part of the search too.

Rabern, every candidate will look good on paper. Hiring Harsin was just ADAG being cute.

Stop being a dull boy.

This year instead of hiring firm for the search we hired a firm to help with the vetting. We have an idea of who we want.

This is why Freeze won’t be hired. Chances are a search firm will find some more red flags dating back to his time as a high school coach and Ole Miss. Add that to the already known transgressions which show his complete lack of judgment off the field, no way a new President and AD can make that hire.

A new AD doesn’t want to have to field questions about Hugh messaging sexual assault victims, cheating at Ole Miss, hiring prostitutes, and making girls change clothes in front of him at the hiring press conference.

I don't care as long as losing big games is a big factor in hiring. We had a coach that lost just half the big games and people were as ready to throw him out of town as Harsin. That will eliminate Kiffin and with Deion died off that will leave us without everyone's top 3 candidates from just a week ago.

Well since it was OM's cheating scheme and not Freeze then it's irrelevant to hiring. They aren't going to hiring someone that tells everything wrong at Auburn either. I put no faith in a story the girl hid for 20 years and decided to come out with when she could get some money for interviews. It's the whole reason scandals get started and no one can tell if they are true or not to start with.

I would pick Freeze. He fits every coaching checkmark. He can coach up the players on both sides of the ball, beat the teams with more talent, his team's have offense and defense no matter the coordinators, etc. As for the baggage the only thing that is proven is the calling escorts. The cheating was OM's plan in place before he came. It's not something he thought up and started.

Plenty of ADs and people in on searches for HCs have said you wouldn't believe the stuff that is covered up that they come across in searches and why alot aren't hired.

As for Kiffin, I have said plenty of times. The fact he loses the big games is enough not to hire him. Winning 10 games a year at OM and losing to Bama and LSU is going to have him as an idol but 9 wins at Auburn losing to Bama, UGA, And LSU and/or a big bowl game every year isn't a long term fix. It's another Gus minus beating Bama occasionally. Everyone screaming its OM, he done the same at USC with better talent and resources. Nothing about him shows he's a long term fix. He's another "just looks good on paper" coach. He came close to losing to vandy and even Auburn this year. Either one and he wouldn't be mentioned right now.

Would rather have Freeze than Kiffin. You aren’t committing to 9 figures still with question marks and he has something to prove.

Kiffin’s lack of attention to his defense concerns me. Its like an afterthought. And some of his extremely questionable play calls, he cost his own team the game at Auburn.

Just because of the money involved I think Kiffin is a riskier choice. You could load a Freeze contract with some morality clauses etc and he’d still come he wants the job so bad.

The only thing that makes Kiffin more attractive is the absolute meltdown from Ole Miss fans if it happens
