I would always rather roll the dice with someone new and HOPEFULLY improve than to be scared and risk-averse and continue to watch heads of the program like the last TWO head coaches step-by-agonizing-step destroy the program.

Demeco Ryan’s understands how football works in Alabama.

He would be a hire that would be a splash.

Prime time has not paid his dues.

Guys, there is no chance they're doing all this at a pivotal time for Auburn in the landscape of the SEC and then going with an NFL coordinator who's never stepped foot on a college campus as a coach.

Also, DeMeco Ryans is already getting NFL HC buzz.

It's just not a good idea and it won't happen.

Why is it a good idea? Because they're good in the NFL in a play-calling role? The skillsets are completely different. The expectations are completely different.

Auburn can not hire someone who is learning on the job or needs time to figure out what it means to be an SEC HC. You just witnessed that with Harsin. That is what will happen with any of these NFL guys, if they even want the job....which they probably don't in the first place.

And being a marginally known NFL coordinator does not mean that these guys are going to be great recruiters, if you had that in mind. SEC HC's need to be recruiting any waking moment they have wherein they're not coaching...and that's a big hell no to most career NFL coaches.

Those guys were life-long NCAA coaches. And Harsin was a massive failure.

You are pumping these guys up because they are good NFL play callers, but that isn't what NCAA coaching is about. So you're already operating backwards.

Again, this is not a good idea and I'm pretty mind-blown that its being pitched after Harsin just proved that this entire "he's a no nonsense ball coach" thing failed. Texas and Oklahoma are about to join, we're at a talent deficiency, and you want to go with Eric Bieniemy and hope that he wants to recruit and deal with 18 year old college kids? You don't understand how fricking serious recruiting is here. These guys are complete unknowns.
