I think we will "go after" prime. I think they will discuss things. I think the discussions will be good however I don't think Prime will want the job. That's my opinion.

Will he be priority number 1 by the committee I'm not sure.

ETA: forgot about Gus.
Gene Chizik was “the field?”

I didn’t feel like he was at the time, leaving only one being “the field” - Bryan Harsin. And he wasn’t a guy the PTB wanted. That was an Allen Green hire and that’s why it was out of left field.

My memory only expands back so long. Before TT, I can not speak.

Uhh yeah. You thought a guy that’s 5-19 at Iowa State is the one all the fans were clamoring for?

I swear, Auburn fans are some of the most risk averse people in the whole world. It’s tiring.

I have defended Hugh Freeze as an option and you say risk averse. Hot take bud

Tubs was a top choice? I remember being pissed when he was hired. That year, Auburn beat 1 SEC team, and it was Tubs’ team.

He was AU’s top choice from the time Bowden was fired….errr, resigned.

Hence the “pine box” comment. AU already was in negotiations with Sexton at the time. It was Tubs’ equivalent to Saban saying “I will not be the coach at Alabama” years later.

Deion getting pissed and turning the world of Twitter anger against us isn’t much different than cowherd/ Thamel/ etc setting aim at us. Very loud but can be tuned out.

Assuming Deion has at least a minuscule emoticon of positive trajectory the PTB should let the fan favorite do his thing. I expect recruiting will be the one thing that abides him more time.

I still think it will be Freeze. If we go with Grimes it will be the first time we have hired an assistant/coordinator to run the program since Shug. I prefer Grimes.

Prime: no experience in a big time program (risky hire that could pay off big OR could be an epic fail.) would be happy with this choice.

Lane: just as much baggage as Freeze, but currently making 7.5 million a year. Might take a Jimbo or Mel Tucker size contract. (95 million all guaranteed). Plus it seems these big contract guys don’t work as hard.

We have money, but with almost $35 million in buyouts, plus NIL, plus stadium needs, we may be reluctant to sign such a big contract when they don’t work.

Lashlee: I do not see it. Gus clone.

Two years ago I wanted Venables who turned us down, he has not done well so far at Oklahoma. Coaching hires are a gamble and very few sure things.

So start thinking about coordinators that are better than Grimes.

Good point. So my question is, why do you accept all the risk of bad pub with Freeze but are scared Deion might get mad and talk bad about us? Doesn’t make sense.

It’s honestly going great. I never knew who wonderful it could be.

Mom is breastfeeding so she is struggling pretty hard the past couple days. But she lets me sleep cuz she is a beast. Baby is perfect. Gonna try dipping my toes back into work in the next day or so.

“Lane has just as much baggage as Freeze”

This isn’t even remotely true. One hasn’t gotten another big job for a reason.

Everyone says Lane has baggage, what is it? How is it the same level of getting hookers with his work phone? Freeze has been caught, Lane is all speculation.

We will go hard after Lane but I expect him to end up at a much bigger job than Auburn. Maybe UF if Napier fails. Maybe Bama if Saban ever retires. This could be our last chance to try and lock him down.

When my wife was expecting our first, a friend took me aside as said “You’re not going to understand this now, but believe me when I tell you that the first time you hold your child in your arms, it will be the most amazing feeling you’ll ever feel in your life. Trust me.” I nodded and said sure, and forgot about it - until it happened. The next time I saw him I said “Now I know”.

Now you know. Enjoy the ride my friend.

Breastfeeding mom makes it easier on dads. You’ll notice the first month the baby tends to sleep a lot and then after that it gets more active. Well at night the mom will try to feed it and if she is breastfeeding that means you can go back to sleep. Just be extra supportive of mom when you’re bright eyed and wide awake.
