I was unable to pay attention to news out of spring camp. I know we had a couple of injuries (Hastings, who else?).

Someone update me on how the team looked. What will our strengths be this year -- D line, QB, linebackers? What about weaknesses -- O line?

Reading some way too early predictions and looks like most people think AU will finish between 8-4 and 10-2.

WRs Hastings & Stove lost to ACLs

Calvin Ashley was up and down very inconsistent

Kam Martin is RB1 right he will by overtaken be Joiner or Asa midway though the season IMO

Defense should be really good again

Losing Hastings & Stove means we will have to depend on some freshman. Most likely Anthony Schwartz becomes the speed sweep guy Hill and Williams will probably play also.

Need Malik Willis to improve as a passer this summer because Stidham has an injury history.

8-4 to 11-1 is possible I'm kinda pessimistic as this year has a 2015 type feel.

Just curious, but in what way? Unless Stidham loses a limb on the first play of the UW game, I dont see anyway our Offense will resemble 2015.

Defense is going to be nasty
Oline is going to suck

We will beat everyone we can run it against

We will lose to anyone that shuts down our run game

Not many will be able to

Disagree about joiner, I'd replace him with Whitlow.

Defense should be really good this year. I think Dline and LB's will be better than last year. Big Kat and TD both had nice springs and should be able to feel Hollands shoes nicely. I personally think rushing from the Buck is easy when you have the talent across the front four we do. Defense should carry us early, and keep us in games against Washington and LSU if offense gets off to a typical Gus start.

Injuries slowed down the offense in the spring, mainly WR, oline, and Studham at QB. Apparently Devan Barrett moved to slot during the Spring. Hoping he gets playing time there, as I think he could be a good replacement for Stove.

Kam Martin and Bobbie lead the way at RB. I think we will be good there. Don't watch the spring game unless you are a huge fan of defense and crappy offense. Hoping CL and Stidham start the year off hot and this should be a fun football season.

Moultry looked really good at the end of last season too.

I think those two will continue on the legacy of Lawson and Holland just fine...

So can gatewood play in any four games this year and redshirt still?

Well we were really flying around out there during spring. Was good to see guys flying to the ball. We had a lot of energy, got to see a lot of our young guys. Was really good for Coach Steele and Coach Lindsey to have a chance work with the young guys, get more individual time than they’re able to during the season.

We got a couple of guys banged up, day-to-day type things. Unfortunately, Will & Eli both went down with ACLs but they’ve been making great progress with getting back to 100%. I think we got a lot of good growth from our young guys and think come fall we’ll be ready for a good season.

Yours truly,
Gustav
