I know we've all heard it before. It's getting to feel a little like Charlie Brown and Lucy with the football but I can't help it. I'm excited to hopefully see him play and Auburn actually utilize a TE in the passing game.

I was watching the ND-BC game the other day, and their TE Hunter Long caught a pass, and the announcer mentioned it was his 47th on the year, through 9 games. Their backup TE has caught another 5, which works out to about 7 receptions from the position per game.

In 6 games, our TEs have 7 receptions. Combined.

He’s certainly the most advanced pass catcher out of the group. So we’ll see if that turns into targets on the field

Morris clearly isn’t interested in Fromm, Deal, or Shenker at the position. JJ is more of a half back but he’s seen plenty of PT

Hoping Deal can at least turn into an OL down the line.

For context to how little Malzahn uses TEs

CJ Uzomah has a 43 reception season in the NFL. That is 14 more than his career rec at AU and almost 20 more than Malzahns peak TE year Lutzie w 24(?)

Idk why we are talking about TEs though.

Just give Pegues a wildcat formation and let him do his thing.

Deal is a really effective blocker and always grades out well. If he could gain the weight for OL I think he'd be really good because he has great feet.

Justin Ferg talked about this in his podcast this week. Said that when Auburn is in the 2 tight end formation they are one of the best run blocking teams.

Pretty prolific for us over the last 6 years.

Remember Jalen Harris?

He transferred to Oklahoma after Gus schemed to get him like 4 targets a season.

It always confused me, because when Deal and FRomm were signed, I could have sworn that Gus' mentioned, he wanted TEs that could catch as well as block, as he was going to use them more in the offense.

And that was one year before Morris got there with Pegues and Frazier.

So with 4 TEs to work with, it still boggles my mind that only Frazier is mentioned as a reason to throw more to a TE.

He did in high school. Can you imagine that front end loader running over little boys? Good Lord!

I've seen him in for 2 plays.

4 passes to TE's with 2 completions. While still not the level I'd like they are being used in the passing game which is an improvement imo

He was who nix was looking for before he was sacked on our 2nd half field goal drive. He was in on one other play too. He's a big guy so he stands out a little
