I’m tired of playing them just like I’m tired of playing Clemson. Don’t like that they won the recent games though, so hopefully Gus remembers that loss to add more motivation.

Above all else just get a win baby.

Saw an athletic projection that had Brown at #4 to the dolphins.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't a top 10 pick

Think we need two SEC teams in the playoffs for us to make a NY6

Bama is pissed at the thought of missing the playoffs and now a NY6 Bowl, all thanks to Auburn

The committee said we jumped Bama because of their weak arse schedule and our tough schedule, and then beating them head-to-head.

Below from al.com:

quote:

Should LSU beat Georgia in Atlanta this weekend, the Bulldogs would then snag the SEC’s Sugar Bowl bid, while Florida would then get slotted to the Orange Bowl. That would leave one at-large bid open for Auburn to potentially grab -- the Cotton Bowl against the top G5 champion -- and whether the Tigers can earn that berth will depend on how the rest of the weekend’s results shake out.

quote:

Most pivotal to Auburn’s New Year’s Six prospects will be the Big Ten title game between top-ranked Ohio State and eighth-ranked Wisconsin. Auburn would need Ohio State to defeat Wisconsin, and for that loss to be enough to drop a three-loss Badgers team below three-loss Auburn in the final rankings on Sunday. In that scenario, Ohio State would obviously make the four-team playoff field, while No. 10 Penn State would grab the Big Ten’s Rose Bowl bid. If Wisconsin stays ahead of Auburn, it would likely pick up the at-large Cotton Bowl bid, while Auburn would presumably fall to the Citrus Bowl or Outback Bowl. If Auburn is ranked ahead of Wisconsin in those final rankings, the Tigers would conceivably earn the Cotton Bowl’s at-large spot.

quote:

That’s if Georgia loses to LSU, placing the Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl and Florida in the Orange Bowl. If Georgia beats LSU and both make the playoff, that moves Florida to the Sugar Bowl, while the higher-ranked team out of Auburn and Wisconsin would take an Orange Bowl bid, as that game is contractually obligated to take an ACC team against the highest-ranked remaining SEC or Big Ten team, or Notre Dame.

Hope we stay away from this. Never know how this will turn out.

Ohio State will blow them out again.

CBS Sports has us playing Minnesota.

I like this matchup. DO NOT WANT WISCONSIN.

Wisconsin could march out a Pee Wee football team and I still would have anxiety if Barry Alvarez patrolled the sidelines

It will be the Citrus picking between us and Bama. IMHO they pick Bama.

Whoever picks bammer will be playing in an empty stadium. They will not pay the money to go to a meaningless bowl game after seeing playoffs and championships for a decade. I would not either if I was in their shoes.

This. I’d love to get the cotton bowl bid over Alabama. Looks like there’s a chance it might happen if pieces fall into plac

The Cotton is a better bowl than Citrus or Outback or Gator, and Memphis is a damn good team. It'd be a hell of a game. Memphis has gained enough respect nationally that no one would look at it as an inferior game. Unlike some past years where a mid-major got ranked for beating 12 nobodies, I think Memphis has earned their ranking and could beat more Power 5 teams than we'd probably be comfortable with.

Pretty sure you're going to get your wish there.

I have looked over a bunch of articles all the above are related to LSU winning the SEC championship game.

They have us in either the Outback Bowl or the Citrus Bowl against the following teams Minn., Penn State, Michigan, Iowa or Wisconsin.

I get where you're coming from but we'd get no credit for beating Memphis. Everyone is going to say "yeah Memphis, great team" but nobody will consider Auburn beating them to be significant and will absolutely act like it's a giant-killing win if Memphis were to beat Auburn.

It's inferior in every way. Minnesota is somewhat similar.

Most years I'd like the opportunity to beat a good team, but I am of the opinion that we simply need the win and the ability to say we have gone 10-4, 8-5 and 10-3 on the recruiting trail. I don't care how easy the game is or how it is perceived...we need to win.

Yep. Getting 10 wins with the schedule we had to navigate is a huge win for the program.

10-3 is a giant leap from 9-4. I know it's only one game, but the perception is way different. For me it is anyway, with the expectations this team had going into the year. It was supposed to be a down year with unknowns at QB and OL. To pull 10 wins is huge

I’m too lazy to look it up, is the cotton bowl on Saturday or New Years?

I want a winnable matchup we'd get the most credit for.

I don't want to play Memphis, not because they're not a good team, but because there is little upside to beating them and major downside to not beating them.

I'm fine with a game like Purdue last season if that's what's ahead, but given the choice between a Michigan/Minnesota, which I put at about the same level, I'm taking Michigan.

Reactions:

Auburn beats Michigan - "SEC over Big 10 yet again, Auburn finished strong considering that schedule"

Auburn beats Minnesota - "well, yeah."

Things I want, in order of want:

1. To win the bowl game

[huge gap]

2. To not play Memphis. They are deceptively dangerous and there is no upside.
3. To not play Wisconsin. Bad juju.
4. To finish ahead of Alabama in the final rankings. Can't hurt for recruiting.
5. To go to a NY6 bowl.
