IF we needed a new HC, I would want us to back the Brinks truck up for Fleck. It has nothing to do with the Bowl game. Dude impressed me long ago. Put him in the SEC with SEC talent, he could be as good as their is.

you have 5 Butch Jones

Butch jones was good at following brian kelly. He inherited already built programs (as did O with lsu). Fleck built program successes himself. He inherited middling programs and took them to higher levels just like bruce.

Cetainly don't look for losers. Fleck has been successful more than one season and at more than one location. He is also charismatic and whipped our arse with a much less talented roster.

Should also be pointed out that O was a can’t miss hire at Ole Miss.

Was he really a "cant miss" hire though?

How often are first time head coaches considered a "cant miss?"

My point is we act like he’s a can’t miss hire now that he’s in the land of abundant recruits but when he was at Ole Miss, he was fireable.

I agree. And i also think he was fireable at the start of the 2018 season. Its simply remarkable the progress he has made as a head coach in just the last couple of seasons.

Hopefully Gus can see this and learn from O. I mean i know thats likely wishful thinking but i do believe wholeheartedly that Gus could turn out to be the best coach we have ever had...but there is a lot of growth needed to achieve anything close to that...

But if Gus can truly hand over the O to Morris like he did the D to Steele, this could be the start of a whole new era on the plains...

I have thought this for years. He keeps pulling me in just to push me back into a standoff. I don’t care if he calls plays or not. Just stick with whatever works, but this is the maturity that I’ve been waiting on.
He has had a good offseason, so I might get pulled in one more time lol. Our offense can be explosive with all the backs and receivers that we boast. If we had a good OL or pulled in Brod Jones....I’d already be on board.

The only thing giving me hope is that w/ new players competing for all OL spots except for center, we have a chance to be better w/ a new OL coach and a new OC.

I felt like w/ the OL we had last year, i didn't expect much improvement from the year before when we were average at best. It turned out..they were what they were...average on run blocking and a little better on pass protection.

I also realize we may not have our starting OL in place until the fall when the new guys come in, unless the backups we have now really show something in the spring to the coaches.

Peak offseason Gus:

Auburn HC Gus Malzahn: "We've had this trophy here two out of the last three years, and it feels real comfortable. And we plan on keeping it for a long time."

Someone needs to tell Ole Gussy there’s more games than just Alabama and Arkansas. How many times have you had that DSOR trophy, or how about the Tiger Bowl trophy?
