Having personally spent a couple of years around the parents and the kid playing baseball, I find this all very hard to believe. I'm not saying that I know them well, but my brief time around them at the ballpark certainly wouldn't lead me to believe that the above was possible.
Personally, I think the kid was just done at Auburn: Graduated, engaged, and ready to move on.

This is pretty much the story I heard too. And it makes sense given the timing so close to early signing day. If he loves Auburn so much, why build this up for a ~two weeks and then drop it right before the big recruiting week? He apparently has a "do not contact" tag on him in the portal, which implies that he already has a school picked out and agreed upon - so what's with the timing when he could have kept his mouth shut and just left after ESD?
Face it, this kid is spoiled as shite and his "legendary figure" of a father probably didn't like hearing all season how his son was a mess fundamentally considering that he was his coach/teacher. He doesn't take well to criticism and never has. The meeting with Harsin absolutely happened and I'd be willing to bet that part of the "concerns" they wanted to address was guaranteeing him the starting job next season and that Harsin wouldn't look to bring in a transfer. I have no idea if Harsin is going to succeed here, but he doesn't play that BS and he didn't get on his knees and kiss their feet.
I doubt that Harsin gives a shite because there is literally an opportunity to upgrade at the position after all of this.

Yep. The timing of it seems to add up with the rumor. Either that or they were talking to some schools on the down low, to see if anyone worth a flip wanted him before entering the portal.
