I get happy when we just throw beyond the LOS, it seems that every pass is a screen behind the LOS. I love the "Schwartz needs 10 touches a game," & hate that those touches are all 4 yards behind the LOS or the uncatchable 60 yd bomb.

No quarterback has bailed on the pocket more this season than Nix.
It's coaching.
No different with any of our previous recent QBs.

Sean White stood in the pocket and took a beating. It's a recruiting thing. We recruit sorta dual threat QBs. They have always used their athleticism when SHTF it's hard to break that habit. Cam did it as well.

There just hasn't been a pocket this year. There has been a few times he bailed on his own this season, maybe 6 or 7 times through 3 games (and a couple of times it worked out) but wayyyy more often than not it hasn't been him.

quote:Stidham had happy feet, and would run out of the pocket. Stidham was not considered a dual-threat QB. That being said, we have had YEARS of examples of QBs that leave a protected pocket when they shouldn't have. Hell, Gus all but destroyed more than one QB.

Bailing out has nothing to do with coaching.
QBs develop it over time or in most cases, it simply is the mental aspect that some QBs simply have 'IT'.
Bo maybe a little better but even with almost a total new OL, he still anticipates a rush or pocket breakdown, and starts to slide outside, limiting his options and causing the WRs to go into breakdown mode.
Also, using OM as a gauge for our passing attempts and locations is not a fair attribute.
We're talking a very good, different style OC/HC in Kiffin vs a OC/HC who has a totally different scheme and playbook in Gus.
Kiffin is a much better OC than Gus.
So it's not fair to compare them IMO.

You may want to check your sources there Skippy. Stidham ran for over 1000 yards as a high school senior in Texas. He was the #2 DTQB out of high school and the #1 DTQB out of JUCO.
So... Um... Yes he was.
