The imitable Stat Tiger posted a video showing the difference in Bo's mechanics from last year to this year. He is staying in pocket more, has a quicker release and his throwing mechanics are slightly different. His stance is narrower and he's stepping into throws better.

This is why I drink beer and keep my mouth shut. A lot of it looks the same to my ignorant arse.

Bo’s throwing motion is much more compact this year. He’s using touch much better now even on deep balls. His feet are in better placement.

Yes that is all good against Akron or ASU but the test comes when he’s being pressured. When the windows are smaller in throwing the football. So a few more games to go before we can make a definitive statement on mechanics. After UGA we should definitely know. UGA has a great team this year and an elite defense.

Yeah I can tell (in that video in slow motion) that his wind up is shorter. He's definitely not dropping the ball as low as before. His footwork looks MUCH better.

But for some reason, he is stepping to his left with his front foot on almost all of those clips. Maybe it's something he is being taught. I don't know. But it seems like it's opening his hips up too early and he's just slinging it with only his arm. Could be nothing, but it just looks odd to me.

Bobo and Harsin are both respected QB developers so it makes sense. Would have been interesting to see them with Stidham

It’s hard to tell but you can spot the shorter release. The ball doesn’t come near as far back which would explain a lot of the bad overthrows from the past. Hopefully he keeps it up this weekend when he’s going to be under pressure. We’ll need a passing game to keep their offense off the field
