WDE Steve. Long story short, long-termish (28 years and counting) expat in Japan. Born / raised in Auburn. Mom was a science teacher at AHS, Dad a long-term Botany / Micro Professor. Hated Auburn at times growing up and wanted to get out. I guess that is hopefully understandable, but it is my home. My family.
So, I saw today that Paul is going to make it to Auburn for the Iron Bowl. That’s Ausome. Ms. Dee Ford and Mr. Ross Collings, from Halstead, should also be invited, welcomed to Auburn. I know there is not much time, but someone, somewhere will come through with anything it takes to get them all there together. This year, let’s invite the Brits to invade Auburn, lol. Maybe next year, we’ll send some samurai. Most of us on the AU Board on the SEC Rant on Tigerdroppings have found an online home from various other boards, for various reasons. Our MODS are RIG, Lee County Tiger, and Ross, as best I know. Please share the following link to our board and tell Rig, et al that you are AU alumni and would like access to our board. My large home (separated for 6 years with 2 teenagers who may still hate me but love Auburn), is ALWAYS OPEN AND WELCOMING to our Auburn Family. Please spread the word. I am an hour and a bit west of Tokyo by bullet train (aka Shinkansen) in my little piece of heaven smashed between trout-filled rivers, world-class beaches, powder snow, hot springs, any kind of food you can imagine (and then some) but more importantly…by AUsome people.
I am not an active AU alumni member, officially, but AU, Zoology, ’94. It took a bit more than 4 years to get my degree. I entered AU as my LAST OPTION on an Army ROTC scholarship. I am sure we both, we all have some decent stories.
Anyway, sorry for the TLDR message. To recap, let’s get Ms. Dee and Ross, and a child or family member or two to Auburn for the Iron Bowl. I / my family has 1850’s restored log houses on Loblockee Creek, with plenty of space, bedding, etc. As for tickets, some one of us can pull a few from the Athletic Department for these very, very, very special guests and members of our family. It will be a national sports news story, of welcoming home members of our family. As for PR….could anything be much better than us all organizing an effort to bring the UK Fam branch to Auburn on our dime to actually experience in person what JHS is like? For any “normal” SEC game, but much more, an Iron Bowl??? THIS YEAR? It can’t be beaten with a stick. We need to make this happen. Gameday may be in Auburn. Don’t know. Doesn’t really matter, but how awesome would Dee’s story. Ross’ and Paul’s stories be from the land of ultimate hooliganism?
Please help us bring them home. My mom and family will make sure they are well-fed and sleep well, with some creek fishing and woods hiking and a log-house stay. We’ll get tickets. Let’s do this. My Dad and I had a normal / difficult relationship growing up. Now, I am so proud of him, I miss him, I hope he will be proud of me. We spent many Saturday afternoons in the 80’s gathering stadium cups. I sold programs at the bottom of Ag Hill, he guarded the South endzone TV tower as a Lions Club member.

I was trying to find it on YouTube but can't find it. I know there used to be one out there.
There is another song the Brits sing when playing the Germans that came about after the 1966 World Cup when England beat West Germany in the final. But, the ignorance is mind-blowing. Reminder that I was born and raised in fricking Auburn. Do you get it? Or not? Or worst, don't give a damn. I'm guessing most just don't WANT to "get it." Don't care. frick YOU.
