Hooks just said "it is very likely we will get a postseason ban."
I was hoping Hooks had a different take on knowing what he seems to know, but after I read his recent comments, I too feel unfortunately, that we will at least get that 1 year ban like OKST did.
Why? B/c after reading the details of the NCAA reasoning for giving OKST the 1 year ban, it falls exactly into the same issue we had with Person.
There is no difference in our violation than OKST's. The only difference was the self-punishment we dealt. And it looks like the NCAA will just pat us on the back for handling it like we did, but say it is STILL a level 1 violation that results in a 1 year NCAA post season ban.
That new rule that the NCAA put in regarding the HC is responsible for the actions of their assistants is also what they will be using to support the ban.
The NCAA has no way to support their decision if they give OKST a 1 year ban, and not give us one too.
Better hope when we appeal that there is a pattern by then that the appeal process by OK ST works and their punishment of the 1 year ban is removed.

Hooks just said "it is very likely we will get a postseason ban."
quote:
very likely we are going to get a post season ban on top of other things which is beyond ********* and it all is because of Chuck Person.
quote:
With the actions the NCAA took with Ok St there is an uncomfortably high chance all we did right will not matter in the eyes of the NCAA.
With that being said there are a few things that are different in our case verses theirs.
1. We did not hire an assistant who had known issues before.
2. We moved swiftly not only to fire Chuck but also took the most extraordinary step of sitting two kids right away.
These two steps are different in the case than OK St.
Will it be enough? The NCAA clearly wants blood in this matter. Also, will they hammer us due to the short time our former President made CBP look like he was not cooperative? Will it matter that when that happened it was a self inflicted look from our former worthless President?
IMHO Auburn handled this as best as humanly possible and should be held up to other institutions as an example of how you SHOULD hand things like this.
Hard to say as of today but IMHO we will most likely not escape Chucks sins unscathed.
We will not know most likely for awhile as we look to be one of the last cases they will deal with.

THanks for posting that E so others can see the details of Hooks rationale.
The one thing that sticks in my craw though, is I thought the NCAA had changed their way of punishing schools. Money, or scholarships was the new way so that those student-athletes that would still be on the team, who had nothing to do with the violations would still have the opportunity to compete for championships.
Scholarships could ofc impact a team's ability to make the post-season but it still allows the team the opportunity.
With the 1 year ban, it gives no hope for those kids to win something on the court. So the NCAA is punishing them. And if they decide to leave their school b/c of the ban, the NCAA is basically STILL punishing the athlete.
That type punishment just burns me....

Per @Con_Chron, if #Warriors pick from 2-5 in #NBADraft, in addition to PG Tyrese Haliburton and SF Deni Avdija, they will look at SF Isaac Okoro and a few other players or look to package the pick and use their trade exception to add a proven player.

Okoro has a kinda similar game to Andre Igudoala. Could probably fit very well next to steph and Klay

Watching Okoro in the playoffs every year is so exciting to think about.

Isn't Igudoala a center? Sheesh, I just looked him up and I guess it shows I don't watch much of the NBA. I follow the Jazz and attend a couple of games every year, so maybe I have Igudoala confused with someone else.
Looking at Igudoala's stats that is a vaild comparison.

War Tampa, featuring former AU players Bryce Brown, Horace Spencer, Desean Murray, and Laron Smith, play in The Basketball Tournament on ESPN beginning July 4th. Should be fun.

Ole Miss' Blake Hinson enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Is this someone we could go after?
quote:
According to a 247Sports source, Ole Miss forward Blake Hinson has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. The rising junior averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 60 career contests at Ole Miss.
Last season as a sophomore, Hinson started 27 of 28 games and averaged 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest. The Rebels forward ranked third on the team in scoring and fourth in rebounding. He scored in double figures in 14 games, including a season-high 23 points against CSU Bakersfield.
As a freshman during the 2018-19 campaign, Hinson started 31 of 32 games, the third-most by a freshman in the last 20 years of the program's history. He averaged 8.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 26 points in a win against No. 14 Mississippi State, the most points by an Ole Miss freshman since 2011.
The NCAA introduced the portal on Oct. 15, 2018, providing athletes a path to explore their options. Players do not need to ask permission from their coaching staff in order to transfer. They merely need to request that compliance enter their name. Usually, it takes 24-48 hours for a player to appear following their request.
Schools are free to contact a player without restriction once their name appears in the portal.
While a player entering their name in the transfer portal means they intend to explore their options, it does not necessarily mean they will leave. A player is free to withdraw his name at any time. However, schools are under no obligation to keep a player on scholarship once they enter the portal.

That was expected. I'm thinking we get a late addition in the Jvon mold. A scoring PG that can occasionally play next to Cooper. Bruce seems to be pretty good with the late additions. 2 years ago it was Jvon and last year it was Cambridge.

Does it really matter?
If it does, I'll take down my post and admit defeat.
