It really doesn't apply because Bruce is exponentially better at evaluating and constructing a team than Hugh has proven to be in the NIL/Portal era but that's probably a different thread

heard. I heard it was ~1.1 - 1.2 mil 3x what he was making and the payback was 60% if he left.

I did the calculations based on State Income. AL - 5% vs CA - 13.3%

His gamble payed dividends for him if the numbers are true.

1,140,000 vs 2,601,000 ; granted the Fed tax rates would be the same I imagine when making that much?

Good for him; hope he invest it well!

Pearl has brought great bangers from the start., decent players that ended up being not enough, and duds.

If the whole roster is brand new and acts raw next year then serviceable depth takes a hit because there will be the mixed bag.

Decent players but not up to snuff- include zep, Wendell, KD, Cambridge, Flanigan
Duds: Traore, whitey, Westry, Pegues, Howard, Aden Holloway

He brought in 2 duds last year on a fraction of what he will bring in this year.

Can we please stop with the optimism? I mean, Bruce definitely hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt. Look at the terrible track record he has since joining the SEC. He's only made the NCAA tournament (or would have) as a 9 seed or above 13 of of 17 years. Why couldn't this bum take the Tony Barbee All-Stars to the tournament his first three years at Auburn?

Tennessee
2006: 22-8 | No. 2 seed (East Region)
2007: 24-11 | No. 5 seed (South Region)
2008: 31-5 | No. 2 seed (East Region)
2009: 21-13 | No. 9 seed (East Region)
2010: 28-9 | No. 6 seed (Midwest Region)
2011: 19-15 | No. 9 seed (West Region)

Auburn
2015: 15-20 | Cleaning up Barbee's mess
2016: 11-20 | Cleaning up Barbee's mess
2017: 6-14 | Cleaning up Barbee's mess
2018: 26-8 | No. 4 seed (Midwest Region)
2019: 30-10 | No. 5 seed (Midwest Region)
2020: 25-6 | No tournament (canceled due to COVID-19)
2021: 13-14 | Did not qualify (self-imposed postseason ban due to NCAA investigation).
2022: 26-6 | No. 2 seed (Midwest Region)
2023: 21-13 | No. 9 seed (Midwest Region)
2024: 27-8 | No. 4 seed (East Region)
2025: 32-6 | No. 1 seed (South Region)

I love Bruce. I am not stupid though. When I see leaner years coming up they usually happen. A 7 seed would be splendid as long as we beat Bama at least once and make it the second week in the tournament

I am pointing out facts that we are obligated to rebuild a roster and its makeup and that grinds your gears for whatever reason.

I actually feel ok about the rebounding we have so far if we can round out with one more playable big. I’m more worried about how the defense will come together. The rim protection from the last few years is not gonna be close to the same so we will have to change how we play a bit. With Bruce you know the buy in will be there but as of now we seem limited defensively on the ceiling

7 seed is too bearish?
Look at this cult you created, nyc94

Earlier in thread you were complaining about people thinking 9 seed, now you are good with Corch saying 7 seed. You are spinning like a weathervane in this thread.

It's funny how you were mainly MIA last season in basketball related threads when we had our best season ever and their was nothing much to complain about. You were mainly around at the beginning of the season defending that USCgradwhatever fan that slunk off after posting his holier than thou idiocy.

Yet now that we have some roster turnover and uncertainty you are in here soon and glooming and trying to rain on people's parades. Funny how I never see you doing the opposite when things are going well, but you are here without fail when there is something to potentially complain about.

No I wasnt. Ive said the whole time the roster is up in air so a 7 seed would be splendid.

Try reading comprehension

If anything I supported Auburn basketball more than anyone here and on the rant. So there's that. I talked so much shite against the Bruce haters that people were creating threads for my wisdomand nobody here had my back so put my statue right there next to Dylan Caldwell's.

Jang, you are seeing "years", as in multiple lean seasons coming up?

No. I think Bruce finds out who the key pieces are this year and who needs to be gone. The following cycle he strengthens around those pieces.

He will bring Malik Dunbar, Miles Kelly type pieces and gear up.

Then surely can give tons of examples of you doing so on these boards.

And are you trying to deny that you weren't trying to defend USCgradwhatever when he was making his criticism of the team last season? Cause you were definitely doing so.

I will definitely give you that you attack other teams fans on the rant, but I don't really see you talking up our teams as much as you are attacking other teams. I'll give you that you are top tier when it comes to hating Bama and talking crap at their fans on the rant. But almost never see you make positive comments about our teams on here.

I'm a little worried about our defense overall (but am mostly confident just due to Bruce being such a good defensive coach), but I think we will be solid rebounding.

Murphy, Hall, and Freeman are all good rebounders. We won't have someone as good as Broome in terms of overall rebounding, but I could see our defensive rebounding being a smidge better due to not having multiple guys going for blocks all the time on the floor at the same time. Now how that will affect our overall defense remains to be seen.
