That will be a sad day in my house.

Hopefully we can get three more years from him.

Yeah, I’d like to think he coaches until 70, five years from now, but I guess it all depends on how bright he thinks the future looks. Might also depend on when he thinks Steven is ready

He has 4 years left on his contract. Fingers crossed that he finishes it before hanging up the high tops

Finebaum asked him about it on his show today.

Bruce's comment was (paraphrased) he has 5 years left on his contract and he would be surprised if he was still coaching in 5 years.

He also dodged the political question again.

If he does hang it up in say, 3 years. Do we just roll with Stephen? Or has the AU basketball prestige elevated enough to go get a big time coach?

I have a feeling that Bruce has been promised that Stephen gets to take over, but I would be fine if it was a short leash so that everything that Bruce has built doesn't come completely crashing down.

If we go in another direction I would say take a shot at Golden. I know the trouble Bama football got in always hiring one of Bear's boys, but Golden has built something good at UF.

I think I would be good with that. I think he has probably earned a shot. And if he turns out to be as good of a HC as Bruce, that is good for Auburn.

If he is 50% as good as Bruce, he will be the second best coach AU men's BB has had behind Bruce.
He deserves a shot when daddy walks away, as he has been a big part of the behind-the-scenes success.

I think Steven could be a good coach. Only issue is he has but no relationships on his own in the coaching industry. The issue comes when Steven is elevated who stays on staff with him. I'm sure Ira and Corey would be gone. I would also expect Burgo would be ready for a head spot at like a Middle Tennessee State or some program like that.

What kind of staff would Steven be able to put together is the greatest question for me. Very few coaches run the flex cut offense any more.

My guess is Bruce retires after this season.

They will definitely ask TG but wouldn’t expect him to accept. Then it will go to Steven

They won’t ask Golden. Golden has it made at UF.

Yeah Golden isn’t happening.

Auburn was just a pit stop on his way to success. He has no ties here other than Bruce and Steven

I think there's been an unwritten understanding that Steven will take over BUT if there isn't you have to ask. Worst possibility is you make UF fork over more $$ to pay their coach

Agree. That’s all I’m saying.
