So you’re saying a competent QB that would hit all these wide open WRs wouldn’t change anything?

Well, the defense definitely isnt the issue with this team. The "bend but dont break" shite is frustrating, I understand. But 17ppg given up against the Baylor QB who is one of the best in the country in yards and TD plus playing 3 straight top 15 teams is pretty frickin' good.

Idgaf about yards. I care about points and our defense doesn't give up a bunch.

100% of you're ire should be focused on our offense. The playcalling, the overall scheme, and your specialty: the QB. They all suck magnitudes worse than our defense.

The vast majority of QB's are only competent in functioning systems. This has been proven time and time again. Unless you have an absolute god (which Pavia IS NOT), you need the offensive system and the coach in charge to be functional before you even get to the QB.

Your thought process is wrong: did the chicken come first, or the egg?

Look at the NFL where "bad" or "failing" QB's switch teams and immediately turn into functional starters elsewhere. Carolina has had MULTIPLE QB's on their roster who were atrocious when they played there, and now they are legitimate starters elsewhere. Those QB's didn't magically "improve" overnight at this stage in their careers. In 2022 the Panthers had both Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield on their roster - both of these guys are now above-average starters on other teams. Its the same thing with the Browns (where Mayfield also looked bad)

Big Browns fan. It’s true: every QB the Browns touch turns to shite although I’d argue that Mayfield was the best of all of em. Still can’t believe they got rid of him.

Yeah but it’s not a coincidence that these QBs have sucked at 2 separate programs.

Guys get open and run the correct routes.
They do in ours too. This shitting on the wr narrative i see here blows my mind every time. Cam, Eric, and malcolm all get open at a more than winnable rate. And perry is starting to come on too.

Yup. These WRs would be feasting with a QB that could deliver the ball. Freeze will surely either overpay for another shite QB from the portal or ride with Arnold again next season tho.

But if you pay attention, the offense itself is non-functional - which is why the results are what they are. On one play the WR is open, but the OL doesn't pick up the key block or they get a penalty. On the next play the WR is open, but he is missed. On the play after that, the WR is either running the wrong route, or the QB is expecting him to do something else and they are out of sync. There are procedural penalties in every game which prove that we are BAD foundationally.

An offense has to function as the sum of its parts, with consistency. Every bad offense has snaps where someone is wide open.

You will notice that against UGA Arnold looked very good when they were running scripted plays in the first half, but it all looked very different once they were trying to actually play checkers against the defense that was starting to throw counters.

Defenses tend to quit blitzing every play when the QB starts lighting their asses up through the air.

It’s part of the problem when every time Auburn gets a lead, Durkin goes conservative and plays prevent. Then immediately gives the lead away.

You right, as a whole it can only be described as dysfunctional. The second half is where you show how good of a game day coach you are. All that shite you scripted in practice is out the window bc a good coach is gonna adjust and youre not gonna get what you got in the first half. And Hugh just doesn't function on game day. Aw shucks they took the dink and dunk away ig we lose.

That's why he has to go. He's a loser and has no clue how to lead young men.

Mizzou wins 27-24 … Auburn misses a tying FG to hand Mizzou the win.
