7-10 seeded teams just generally can’t compete with elite opponents away from home and that’s probably in the range of where we are. We have one good win away from home against a good but probably not great St John’s team and that will pay dividends but we won’t be beating any elite teams on the road with where we are defensively

Every team who we lose to are we claiming they are #1? I just need to know if that's our motto this year.

Well, one actually was #1, one was going to be #1 if they beat us and the last one was beating the piss out of anyone that looked at them funny and is currently #2. So, though not technically true, we have played an insane schedule to start the year.

• Houston - 8-1 - #1 when we played at a neutral site and lost by 1 and currently #7

• Michigan - 8-0 - #7 when we played them at a neutral site and currently #2 (with many thinking they should be #1)

• Arizona - 8-0 - #2 when we played them at their home court and currently #1

Right? This won't hold water once a few more losses come in but right now it's actually true

I hope these two complete thrashings don't break these boy's spirit and kill their confidence.

Hope it is a lesson well learned.

Anyone ever notice…these slaughters on the other of the country, do nothing but character build. None of these guys ever make it to the Final Four. Houston and Arizona won’t be there.

If that Michigan team is not a final four team I will be shocked. Houston looks beatable. Arizona, well I couldn't tell if they are good or if we sucked so bad that night and our team fighting each other to honestly know.

I'm afraid we do not have the size down low to make a deep run. I've said it before that something feels "off" about this year's team.

OH OH, and we still can't shoot free throws. So there is that.

No duh we don't have a team to make a deep run. Not sure why anyone would think otherwise from the start of the season. Once CBM decided not to come back to us this team had 7 seed upside even with Bruce coming back as coach. We don't have good 3 point shooters overall, don't have a true point guard, and don't have size down low, and zero depth down low.

We are most likely going to be 9-4 before the SEC schedule starts, which was about the best we could have hoped for realistically from our pre SEC schedule considering how brutal it is. So we'll need to go 11-7 to even get to 20 wins. That's doable with our schedule, but we'll have to play well. Which would probably put us at an 8/9 seed, maybe a 7 with a good SEC tournament start.

We are most likely looking at a team similar to 22-23, look good some nights, look really bad others. If we get lucky with matchups can make a sweet sixteen run. If we are unlucky we are NIT. Injuries are really going to hurt this team due to lack of depth.

Both of the final 4 teams looked like a tight group of friends. So far that kind of chemistry is not there this year.

Then again it might have a lot to do with having played 3 and soon to be 4 teams ranked in the top 10.

We have ONE player back from last year.

Hall/Overton/Murphy/Freeman: transfers
Bashir/Opurum: JUCO
Jovic: Serbian pro
SWA, Magwood, Simon: freshmen

Pettiford: Returning player

Hopefully, we improve each month over the course of the season.
