I get our pets heads are falling off, but roster wise we are 3rdish in the west. I do find it cute OM, Arky and MSU have an inferiority complex over us. Reality is we are working on winning streaks on all three plus LSU.

When you don’t sign offensive lineman or wide receivers this is what happens.

We’re paying for Gus’ recruiting classes 3-4 years ago.

Andy Staples of The Athletic had a very good writeup on Harsin and AU following Media Days:

Bryan Harsin vs Everyone

The gist is, the PTB that wanted Harsin ousted were to cheap to buy him out, so they pumped up the complaints from disgruntled former players and coaches so they could get rid of him for nothing, which was stupid and wrong. However, their concerns about Harsin being able to get the job done were legit.

Of course their inability to finish the job pretty much doomed the program to failure.

At the time of all this happening they had no proof he couldn't get the job done. It was a chicken shite and damaging move. fricked Auburn for the next hire as well and possibly beyond.

Harmed our school and football program. PTB didn't know shite except AD Green didn't hire their guy Steele.

To be fair, the investigation got started after we stumbled to the finish line in recruiting, had multiple highly-regarded players transfer out, and had unprecedented turnover in the coaching staff. I think those are legitimate concerns.

Leaking the investigation to the press, and the Clesi allegations, was all the fault of the coup plotters. That is what did the potentially fatal damage to Harsin’s tenure.

I find absolutely zero fault in Harsin’s handling of the situation. That doesn’t mean he’s the right man for the job at AU. But it also doesn’t mean he isn’t.

As much as my passion for AU football is waning, for a lot of reasons totally unrelated to this mess, I have to admit this is shaping up to be one of the most interesting upcoming seasons ever. So at least there’s that.

The last part is kind of key though. Other than disagreeing with hiring Harsin from the start (and frankly, I am in that boat), Harsin himself has done nothing so far in his tenure to show us he can't get it done. It's too early! It's such a joke that the university and its PTB couldn't give the guy a year or two of full throated support. Now it's even harder to see it working out.

That’s the point I was making. Going after him was a totally bonehead and reckless move and caused harm to our university and football program.
