Go watch the Iron Bowl replay for one. Oregon is another one. Any time he lined up against a competent OL, he was practically non-existent. I can’t believe he got picked as high as he did. Brown on the other hand, I would have taken 1st pick of the whole draft.

I agree though I’d replace non existent with inconsistent or spotty. He sacked Fromm against a top 5 NFL draft pick. Also strip sacks against Florida and Bama. Problem is he was mostly negated other than the few plays.

Practically non-existent in what sense? From a pass-rushing perspective? Sure, but we've already agreed that as a ~280-pounder, he was playing out of position and therefore expecting him to be some elite pass rusher off the edge is silly considering his lack of burst at that position, especially against an elite team. And you'll see this sort of "analysis" a lot - a player is "non-existent" if they aren't making highlight reel sacks. No shite, no one notices the plays where you push your guy into the backfield and the LB tackles the RB for a one yard loss as a result of it.

His athleticism plays up once you kick him inside which is where he should have been groomed to play the entire time. This argument is as silly as putting a 170-pound receiver at RB and then complaining that they aren't breaking any tackles or moving the pile at the goal-line. Even playing out of position Davidson was productive - maybe not so as an edge rusher, but in other regards hence why our defense as a whole was able to stop the run so well in most games. Nobody sits there at home on the couch and analyzes how well the DE is holding the line or playing the run; on the other hand you are considered "productive" is you get two sacks but allow the other team to run on you for 250 yards. That is "internet scouting" - kind of like how everyone was up in arms about Nick Fairley "not going high enough" when all they can remember is his highlight reel plays.

I actually thought he was good as a pass rusher at times. He just got buried, over and over, inside and outside against good teams. I also agree he’s a better fit inside in general but not sure how that will play in the league.

Isn't Tega still relatively new to football?

To get drafted at all is amazing considering the professionalization of youth sports in America.

A bad knee is certainly not helping his draft status.

Playing in CGM offense is likely hurting as well.

Maybe he will get picked by a team soon.

He’s a big body, but I guess teams want more tape and a healthy body to invest in a top 100 pick.

At the rate it's going Tega is not even going to make the top 200 picks.

I feel for him after all he had to do coming from Nigeria. Especially since the money just keeps dropping for him..

He was actually only 6'5 308 at the Combine - not even that big really.

Its the knee injury + general Auburn OL stuff.
