Anyone want to wager on the O/U for OC announcement?

Saturday by 5PM seems like a good O/U. If hired by then, likely already been in talks before announcement was made

Helfrich - No ties to Gus or the SEC.
He's out

Tony Franklin - Has ties to the SEC and Auburn. Would be a safe / easy hire for Gus (Think Kevin Steele). Can probably be manipulated / told what to do by Gus at this point in his career.
Possibility 7/10

Art Briles - Briles would take whatever job he could get right now. He wouldn't have a problem with Malzahn calling the shots. Their BFF relationship is well known but will the power brokers at Auburn allow this to happen?
Possibility 5/10

Dameyune Craig - Craig and Malzahn didn't always see eye to eye on game days. I can't imagine them working together again.
Possibility 4/10

Jake Spavital - Spavital worked with Herb and Gus at Tulsa. He has coached in the SEC and has the passing offense that Gus knows we need. Spavital is basically without a job. Did Gus send Rhett packing so he could snatch Spavital before someone else did? Possibility 8/10

Chip Lindsey - Lindsey would love to get back to Alabama. He and Gus would work well together. He's proven enough to bring something new to the table but he isn't established enough that Gus can't control / manipulate him.
Possibility 9/10

Eliah Drinkwitz - Maybe the most ties to Gus of all the candidates? If there ever was another "Rhett Lashlee" out there it's Eliah Drinkwitz. He admittedly runs Malzahn's offense so Gus has to be gleaming. The only question here is why let Rhett leave for effectively the same thing?
Possibility 9.5/10

Brandon Streeter - No ties to Gus or the SEC that I'm aware of. He's coaching at his Alma mater and probably inline for a nice raise or promotion soon. He's out

Kendall Briles - Gus admittedly doesn't know Kendall that well. There's also some recruiting infractions following baby Briles around.
He's out

ASU OC. Was an analyst under Gus. Coached at Hoover as Probst's OC then went to Spain Park I think.

Normally I'd be an arse and post a Let Me Google That For You link here, but I'm in a good mood today with this news

2016 - Arizona State OC
2014-15 - Southern Miss OC
2013 - AU offensive analyst
2011-12 - Spain Park HS HC
2010 - Troy QB coach
2008-09 - Lassiter HS HC
2007 - Hoover HS OC

Helluva resume. Huh

As an UNA alum that started out at tiny Colbert Heights just a decade ago, it's quite clear that he has shaken the right hands to get to where he is at right now. Istill don't think we need him just yet. As for recruiting in Alabama, he knows the Quad cities area well in North Alabama. Auburn really doesn't recruit that area very well and really doesn't try to recruit that area either.

And I love how the the quoted poster mentioned that Lindsey worked with coach Propst at Hoover but didn't mention that Lindsey also worked with John Mothershed. Mothershed is ten times the coach that Propst ever was and will be.

My apologies, only got a couple hours of sleep last night

I went to Spain Park during the time he was there. The offense was pretty good, but the defense wasn't great. There wasn't really any star power on the offense. Ben Tamburello's son and Nick Mullins (2-3* QB, Southern Miss) were the only two offensive guys I can think of who went anywhere.

Edit: An excerpt from the article when he took the analyst job at Auburn:

Lindsey led Spain Park to a 10-3 season and the first region title in school history this fall with senior quarterback Nick Mullens guiding a passing offense that produced over 3,600 yards, 40 touchdowns and only seven interceptions.

Yup for his senior season. When we hired Lindsey as an analyst Lutzie tweeted this out:

quote:

Chip Lindsay to Auburn is the best news since America developed tiVo. Amazing coach/person and an even better friend. Wish I had 4 more yrs!
