Yeah I’m actually excited to follow this season. Would love to beat Bama. Suni is a star

Florida, Alabama, and LSU are clearly top3 in the SEC. These teams are stacked. Florida is a juggernaut, they have World Champions, Olympians, and tons of 5-stars fighting for line-up spots. Maybe this will be their downfall, too many top gymnasts fighting for limited line-up spots.
Auburn is definitely improved from last year. The team is more experienced, Gobourne and Watson are back + Aria Brusch is really making some noise. We also added 4-star Sophia Groth. I think we might be capable of producing a few upsets this year.
Suni will probably not do AA right away. She is way behind in practice and will focus on bars and beam in the beginning. Her floor routine is not ready yet. Anyways, she will bring a lot of hype to Auburn and SEC gymnastics. Auburn season tickets are already sold out + even SEC opponents promote their schedules accordingly.
I really hope we can gain some momentum in the coming two years and recruit more top gymnasts in the process (Suni will most likely sit out in 2024 and focus on the 2024 Paris Olympics, so we need to sign more highly rated gymnasts until then).

MEET WEEK
01/07 at UNC (North Carolina Quad Meet), Chapel Hill, 6:00pm
TV: YouTube
Live stream: LINK
- NC State has withdrawn from the quad meet at North Carolina, which will now be a tri meet with Auburn and Bowling Green.
- Suni will compete during the regular season but in a limited role. She will focus on the post-season and the goal is reaching the Final 4.
- Suni: “I have to save myself in order to be ready for the postseason," Lee said. Helping Auburn compete for team titles is the priority. Auburn's roster is overloaded with returning seniors, so Lee can afford to ease in.
- Graba: “It's a realistic goal for us to get to the final four”
- Auburn ranked No. 14 in preseason poll

I'm a bit ignorant on this but as an olympic gold medalist wouldn't that naturally put her leaps and bounds above your average collegiate gymnast?
Or did she take some time off to tour post Olympics / decompress? I imagine she's going to fully benefit from the new NIL regs.

This is a good question and I was wondering the same thing. Anybody?

Um, yes.
Suni has had access to THE top coaches in the world preparing her for the Olympic Games. Training for the Olympics is also basically a full time job for them prior to the games.
She did Dancing with the Stars, not sure if that was what she considered her “break” but to say she’s out of practice is sort of laughable. She is a multiple Gold medalist against the best gymnasts in the world
Bar and beam are typically Suni’s strongest events. Floor is what is said to be one of her weakest yet she stepped right in for Biles and won the gold all around.
Know how many times Suni practiced that floor routine? Zero. She drew up new choreography Thursday morning, performed it Thursday night and won gold with it.
She is one of THE most impressive gymnasts the US has had compete.
Yes, other gymnasts are at a disadvantage against her talent and her experience as she has been on the biggest stage there is.

Or catch a football. Or better yet, can any of them block?

Technically, Suni could and will show some unique skills which will be NCAA premieres (however, other former elite gymnasts have the same skills. Utah, Florida, UCLA, among others have Olympians and World Champions who have the same skill levels. College gymnastics is insane and many world class gymnasts are flocking to NCAA teams now. The avg college gymnast cannot compete here).
However, “Perfect” 10 is the maximum score (and L10 or college gymnasts are used to perform the required typical college skills), which means, you can show the greatest skills but cannot get any bonus points (this is different from the Olympics with its open scoring system), Nevertheless, eventually Suni and other top gymnasts will have to show some insane skills because they can’t afford to lose their skills because some of them will compete in the Olympics and World Championships in the future. It also generates hype and sells tickets :)
