Sorry. Does not compute.

Rhule did have success at Baylor. I am not denying that. But are you saying that players left after Aranda arrived? Transferred? Graduated?

Freeze would be a one and done
I know this is an OC search thread, but Freeze is reportedly making somewhere in the neighborhood of $4 million at Liberty and has a massive buyout if he should leave for another gig. Unless he gets fired for cause (always a possibility) he won't be coming here to be OC.

His name was being brought up as a possible replacement if the program craters under Harsin this year. That would be folly as well, but apparently there are some here who think he would be a football version of Pearl, which is ludicrous IMHO.

Hell, if we're so desperate that we're willing to throw our integrity out the window for a shot at a few years of gridiron success, might as well go for broke and hire Urb. At least that guy could compete, even if he left the program in complete disarray. Apparently 'just win baby' is still a thing amongst the AU faithful.

my first hope is that harsin finds a way to get this thing turned around and succeed.

my second hope is that harsin crashes and burns this year so we can fire him and hire aranda before someone else does.

Yes. Yes it is. Some people want to win.

Throwing money at a coach that has never built a program has not worked out for us

Hire who the big money guys want as head coach on the condition they will use NIL to get the players the coach says he needs to win. Get everyone on the same page for once, will get the results faster than waiting for the next Cam to fall into our laps.

Also pay what's necessary to have 1 lights out recruiter on each side of the ball. Time for some of these big money pricks to put their money where their mouths are

Hate when people say this. A coach is hired to win games, not be your pastor.

Exactly. Who needs their head football coach to be their moral compass?

Brother Hugh could be all that AND a resource guide of who to call for a little companionship too. The bracelets and shirts never said "What Would Hugh Do?" but they probably should have

You want a coach with integrity. That is what is wrong with college football it's not student athletes anymore. It's only about winning and losing. We've gone way away from scholarships for people to use their athletic ability to get an education of higher learning. It's intended purpose.

It appears the OC search thread is morphing into a HC..

From the outside looking in Harsin acts a lot like Saban minus the 7 NC’s. Maybe he should get 1 before he acts like a total deck.

I’m writing off next year and hoping they hire someone that is from the southeast at least during the next coaching search. Harsin is not a fit at Auburn, you can’t approach this job like you’ve won championships when you haven’t. Auburn has turned into Tennessee 2.0 with this jackass leading the downhill charge.
So much instability in his first year is extremely concerning, I don’t always agree with Daren Bates but even he said it’s a shitshow at Auburn right now.

Freeze likely isn’t the answer and is not Bruce Pearl.

From an integrity stand point, of have no issue with AU hiring Freeze or Urban. I would take Urb over Freeze in a heartbeat though even though it could be a disaster in 3 years when he quits to divorce his wife and marry a bar skank.
