Do we have any kind of update on Calvin Ashley?

Was working with 1st team at RG Saturday according to Marcello

What caused him to go to the hospital as a precautionary measure?

Believe it was a stinger to the neck. Guessing head/neck stuff is an automatic hospital trip

Saturday practice notes:

CA back at practice working at RG

Prince Tega has made great strides and it's showing. Staff expecting big year from him.

Kaleb Kim was back at center. Once source said staff seems more comfortable with him there for now. To me it sounds like staff is more comfortable with Horton at RG than CA leaving Kim the starter at C by default.

One spectator told BM that Trox looks and is performing like an SEC starter.

Staff will find ways to get Shiver the ball. He was explosive again Saturday.

Freshman Wrs looked amazing again. Seth Williams has been great and Schwartz has been a good backup to Slayton.

Brandon Marcello has hinted at the fact he doesn’t think Troxell is an SEC caliber OL... not that Brandon is an expert or anything on offensive line play.

He does seem to be pretty connected to jb grimes.

Definitely not the case.. I would even go as far to say he has All-SEC potential. Driscoll would be the starter already if Troxell wasn't SEC caliber. SEC ready? Maybe. We'll see. SEC caliber? No doubt.

Trox had two major knee injuries before graduating high school... for guys with size, that can be debilitating.

I’m with you... I hope both Driscoll and Troxell are having a great battle at RT, and it’s not just the best of two mediocre options.

With position battles between unknowns... it’d hard to know what’s up until they see the field.

His knees are probably stronger now than they were before, thanks to Dr. James Andrews..

My brain is currently fried from work so could you explain why that sounds bad?

Just my opinion based on tea leaves and such but sounds like staff wanted to move Horton to center and CA to RG to get the best 5 on the line. It seems CA is the weak link here because we know Horton can play center. We also know Kim has struggled in run blocking (per reports). To make the move work CA really needed to lock down that RG spot but obviously hasn't done so.

I thought about this the other night when I watched the 2009 Auburn/WVU game.

He might be a little more physical, too.

How do we know Horton can play center?

1. To me it seems like C is a weak leak right now. I don't think Kim is good enough.
2. I hoped Horton would start at C. He is a way better player than Kim and it would make the line better as a whole.
3. Seeing Ashley as the reason for why that lineup might not see the field isn't encouraging. I expected him to be a little further along by now and thought he would be good enough at RG this year.

You realize, though, that you’re basing your assumptions off the assumptions made by AUtigR24, who is interpreting an anonymous source... right?

I do... Still doesn't sound good no matter who says it lol. We still have a few weeks left for Ashley to step up at RG either way.

I really want to see this young man take the big stage and dominate this year.
