He also had foot surgery at the end of september and missed the majority of pre-season practice and early part of the season because of it. I'm not going to fully condemn him for not being able to carve out a substantial role when he missed that much time, as a Freshman.

I am not condemning him. I am not counting on needing him.

As of today, we have:
Starters:
Overton
Pettiford
SWA
Narcisse
Frenchie played the equivalent of D2 basketball. Solid and much needed depth piece but if he's our starter something went wrong

Catching up on this thread..
I agree all the guys averaging 5 pts a game should not be counted on as starters. Yes their % are good, but if they are such good shooters then why are they only making one 3 a game? Those a bench players.
Pett will be the PG. Don't forget last year was his first year playing PG.. got to trust he will continue to develop. He showed plenty of flashes this year, but lacked consistency and got careless with his handle too much. Also can't glance over the fact that he just had a weird shooting season.. he has tons of shots that we're halfway in and then rimmed out.
We don't have the money for an elite PG, so might as well just let that idea die.
I'm fine with any of the players we've been linked to for the most part, but those are all depth guys. I do feel like we need another C and another player we we can count on to carry the load... just don't know if we have the budget to get that. They might just try to win with a bunch of depth since we can't afford the elite players.

I don't think anyone is counting the Texas kid as a starter to be fair

I count the Mantas in that too. I hope that's the plan. We will find out pretty soon because I doubt most of those guys wait too much longer before committing.

Gotcha
.
Heide is one that absolutely torched us when we played them in Auburn. I think he had 17 points. He definitely isn't going to be a guy that creates a lot of shots for himself with the ball in his hands, definitely an off ball guy. Something we lacked this year though as most of our guys needed the ball to create their shots which caused a lot of stagnant play at times. He is a weird one to look at stat wise though. Had some great games but then had a lot of up and down minutes and some very low minute games and some with very low offensive activity. Don't know if that was a symptom of how Texas played or what. He averaged less minutes per game than SWA or Freeman. A weird one to look at for sure.

I think they are referring to the Troy F Dowd
I don't see any way CBM has eligiblity left.

I totally forgot Troy is the Trojans.
Hopefully Dowd will be starter production

He and SWA would make a great 1 2 punch at PF. And Aristode would definitely be an interesting pickup for a wing.

Another ghost post, but seems to be a pretty good rundown.

I thought all the insiders were saying Steven Pearl was cooking. None of these dudes are inside the top 50 players. What exactly is the definition of cooking?

I think Freeman would be a solid get. He struggled this year at Creighton and didn't get a ton of minutes (only 11 per game) but his sophmore year at Iowa he averaged 16.7 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks. Freshman year was 10.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks. He was the 5th ranked C transer in the '25 class. I have no idea what happened at Creighton.
ETA: Looks like he may have had a pretty decent knee injury last year. So, that would definitely explain the production dropoff and would for sure be a red flag depending on how much he has truly recovered vs being forever limited.

Have we landed an elite recruit, portal or otherwise since NIL became a huge factor? Miles Kelly was somewhat highly thought of I suppose. Getting Broome to come back was a big NIL win. But it seems like we are kind of in a different market.

Other than keeping our players, not really. Maybe you count Hall for that?

Dowd is visiting this weekend. We've been trying to lock him up to keep him from visiting UT so this is progress

I’m confused when this.. Tahaad wants to play off the ball at 2
Why wouldn’t we take Tylen Riley to run the PG1 ??
Paying Petti 3 mill, you should play the entire game. He could switch to PG when Riley needed a breather.
