This makes sense.

So looking at the roster we def still need a few things. I see people having Dowd at the 4, but he's like 6'6-6'7.. that's too small for a 4 imo. Let him play the 3.
Tahaad- Back up PG.
Overton- Still need a back up 2. If Walker grows into that great, but counting on that seems a little.. optimistic to me.
Dowd- Back up 3.
A starting 4- Freeman
And then C is already full.

Agree on Dowd. this is from a tweet from J Ferguson
Scouting report on Auburn-bound Thomas Dowd from a coach:
Strengths: “Best player in the league by far, elite above the rim athlete. Plays wing spot, small ball four. Defends, can switch. High level in transition. Good shooter. 3 level scorer, finisher. Elite rebounder, competitive, plays extremely hard.”
Weaknesses: “Post moves. Needs to improve passing. Has trouble guarding on the perimeter off the bounce 1-3.”

Jovic forgot rule one in the game.
You see the ball
You catch the ball
Then and then can you play the ball.
We learned that on day one in Japanese baseball.

Not sure the expectations on our true freshman Caleb Williams but perhaps could emerge as a decent backup 2 or 3? Overton is gonna play 30+ minutes every night but still think we all agree we need another guard out of the portal

He'll be a backup for sure, but if we aren't wanting Walker to serve that role, expecting it from Williams would be likewise silly. He is a solid player and should hopefully develop nicely but Walker was higher rated out of HS and definitely a more polished player at that point.
Mantas is probably our backup 2 at the moment. I'd assume we are just waiting to make sure all the legal stuff with him is cleared up and then will get an announcement.

quote:Seems like we will get 3 more guys and with what's already signed, who knows what the money situation is but I'm guessing it's running slim. I'm with auburnnyc, I'm thinking you only add one more guard and roll with Pett, Overton, Muschalek, Walker and freshman Williams in a combination of the 1 and 2 spot. Then I agree another 3 and 4. After that, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't add anyone else. Adding the above 3 and assuming Opurum returns, that would be 13 on scholarship.

In the portal less than 24 hours. Nothing suspicious there. Nothing at all

Good, I could stand him this year. IK he’s a freshman but drove me nuts with those banana hands

Big time. Really nice addition

Now just really need a back up pg and a starting 4 and anything after that is just a bonus.

From a couple of pages ago but hope is still alive!
This would be an awesome finish to the class.

We need to go all in on Billy Donovan and keep our momentum in basketball while we have it. While I’m no fan of Steven getting the HC job like he did, and I’d hate to move on after 1 season but you don’t have HOF coaches come available everyday

If I was a betting man I’d wager he has less than zero interest in dealing with college basketball in the transfer portal era.

On paper we have a better team. We still need a true PG. Find one of them and lets ride.
