Good point. Some of it is probably just trying to get ahead of the court battle and see what happens. Maybe C. Williams is showing a better fit at the 3 so need another backup at the 2.

My best guess for why is with Freeman's injury uncertainty our best option is to give Dowd the majority of his minutes there so we needed another wing. 2's and 3's are interchangeable so adding more cover on the wing made the most sense

Ngoy and Mantas news is paramount towards the season. Really need those dudes. Hard for me to read anything into the signing other than sort of hedging our bets there..

I read something recently from one of the 247 mods saying teams were waiting until the semester starts before fully clearing their new foreign players to play.. something about that is when a new rule takes effect and everyone is being cautious

I believe Van Wilder.. I mean Kolby King lost his 5th year today. The NCAA won a stay against that ruling and made him and others, including Keyshawn Hall, not get the 5th year now.

What a mess. I'd imagine a bunch of programs are in limbo. You could see this coming from a mile away with how the NCAA drags its feet on implementing the new rules and how every single thing gets legally challenged now.
Just implement the new rules for the following season, not the one that programs have already filled a roster for. This back and forth crap makes it impossible to fill a roster, especially when it is coupled with the insanity of the current transfer portal.

Give it long enough and lawyers ruin everything. It really is baffeling they tried to make the rule change for this season instead of next. LSU is in even worse shape than we are.

Am I seeing Kolby King and others are now ineligible after a ruling today? Sounds like he will have to file for a temp restraining order or injunction on this new ruling to gain eligibility. I wonder if he had already started that process in preparation for this outcome?

Somehow LSU managed to sign a 7' 3" player from Israel today. I thought we were the ones with the Yarmulke Network? How'd we let that guy get past us?

So, the latest ruling by the SEC rules out any players who have signed with a pro team in the NFL, NBA, or WNBA. It doesn't seem to mention anything about foreign players who played in foreign pro leagues. Wonder how this impacts our two international guys, if at all?

They shouldn’t be impacted by the ruling. They will have to make a separate rule for Europe just due to how they structure their sports.

The issue for Mantas is that he played for Golden States summer league team. It’s unclear if that rules him out, if he is ruled eligible, it will be by the hair of his chin. Our hope is that Kentucky needs a European player with a similar background made eligible, and when the SEC bends over backwards to accommodate that player they end up having to let Mantas play under the same logic.

I know a lot of people aren't going to like it but personally I'm all for it. I think it's as good of a warm up as you can get for the regular season. It also gives an Auburn heavy Birmingham crowd a chance to see the team in person without having to pay an arm and a leg to see it at Neville. It gives you a hefty chunk of revnue for NIL (which everyone needs). The only downside I can think of is you could argue it "damages the rivalry." As long as this isn't an every year thing I don't think it affects the rivalry at all. Just my two cents

I hope it doesn't water things down more. Its already hard to get these kids to actually care about a rivalry these days since most of them are constantly transferring.. playing in the preseason could water it down even more if they are giving half effort.
