This is a good point but the scout has gotten easier on us as we have continued throwing up bricks. I think playing in a really tough league helps as basically all of the top 11 teams in our league are playing bubble level hoops or better

We all knew that game was in this team...hopefully they'll use it as motivation. KD has bounced back well from a couple of other bad games.

The only real positive I would say about the 3 point shooting in the 1st half is only a few of them were bad shots. We just couldn't hit the side of the barn.

Team is starting to remind me of the 98-99 Chris Porter squad. Not sure I've ever watched a basketball team where I could just skip the whole first half. Is there a slower starting team than this one? frick.

Yeah but even in our other slow starts we scrapped into a closer game right before half. I think today it was 30-21 or something with like 2-3 minutes left then it was 37-21

Just going to run this by y’all. I have a great friend of mine who is actually a Tennessee fan. Yesterday he said something to the effect of with Bruce the regular seasons are always going to be fun because he goes out to win every game. But he said what holds him back is he doesn’t develop anybody. He says some coaches will make their players better by forcing the players to work through their bad habits or what not regardless of whether that meant an early 4 loss streak. And Bruce won’t do that

What do y’all think about that noise?

I think that’s a matter of interpretation. He’s definitely developed a lot of guys he just has a very different way of doing it. He thinks he can get the most out of guys by leaning into their fearlessness and strengths and making improvements at the margins rather than shoring up weaknesses or avoiding them all together. He’s all about his guys playing how they want on offense (comfort) while causing discomfort on the other end.

Bryce and Harper were for sure developed over time to be highly effective guards. But maybe they just had the ability to be good players on their own? I feel like this wouldn’t be a discussion if our bench wasn’t an utter disappointment.

I think Bruce has been at Auburn longer than he was at UT and at a completely different stage in his life and career. So you should tell your UT friend to go make love to a goat.

I think the team shot it horribly and has been for awhile now. I mean at some point you just have to hit shots.

That’s just dumb… Pearl has done a fantastic job of taking highly ranked kids and turning upping their stock to 1st round picks. And auburns bench was as deep as anyone this yr…

I do think he puts more effort into the D end of the floor than he does the O end. D and inbounds is what it looks like is worked on the most. He gives the players a lot of freedom at the O end, but he has to reel them in at times and it doesn't look like he likes doing that.

Four minutes into the game I would have been telling the entire team that the next three point shot taken would be the last shot they took for the game. We needed to establish an inside presence against a team without a big. Once you get that going, then see if you can get the three to drop.

ETA Kessler is a weapon at the O end. We just don't even try to get him in the game, other than lobs, at that end of the floor.

The absence of a pure shooter outside of Jabari has negatively affected this team no doubt. We definitely need a 3 and stretch 4 that can stretch the floor after Jabari leaves.

Yeah we have had some players develop well over their careers. Maybe it’s a team development thing I don’t know. He has been regular season champion 7 times in 17 years. This team didn’t develop very well.

One elite 8 as a regular season champion. The rest are basically early exits
Two total tournament conference championship (1 SEC tournament championship, final four (no regular season championship))

I’ve been wondering for a few weeks now who would be our next KD like transfer.
I like the Andy Garcia guy from Mississippi State. He would fit our no made threes defensive style of play very well.

I’d like Vescovi

I’d like a sniper like Grady from Kentucky.

Q Jackson as our more controlled SG

I’d like the white boy on A&M’s squad. Didn’t do much today but he can shoot it.

I think you’ve answered your own question… multiple elite 8s and confeeence tourney titles and a final four… all while recruiting at an above average but not consistently elite level.

We need a shooter..bad. Our only shooter can’t be a 6’10 freshman. How the hell is he the only person on this team that can make an open 3?
