Not saying it’s something we should keep an eye on or anything but remember Jarace hasn’t signed with Houston yet. Only committed.

Really? He wants $2M NIL, maybe this is the reason?

EDIT

“IMG Academy star Jarace Walker has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Houston Men's Basketball program, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Wednesday”

A) how the hell is Bama out recruiting us (a bit rhetorical and I know it’s been somewhat addressed).

There’s a chance we may only lose like 2 scholarship players. Numbers are tight this year

How significant is it to sign two 5-star Hs kids in the same class now with the transfer portal option? (LSU, Arkansas, Bama all managed to land 5star recruits). Would you compare their 5star signees to Jabari/Banchero talent level or rather to… Sharife Cooper?

Scenario: Let’s assume we only lose Jabari and find a transfer portal stud to replace him but we return Kessler, JD, Flan, Green, etc - and add Westry. I think we should be still very competitive next year, depending on some other factors such as favorable schedule etc. Coaching is also a very important factor and we have the top coaching staff in the SEC.

Agreed. I was getting somewhat concerned (and I am still impatient, would like to land a 5star stud now because those kids are all committing elsewhere and it is still unclear which players will enter the portal). However, I realized we are just in a a different recruiting cycle than Bama, Arkansas, and LSU:

Bama board:

Probably Leaving: Jaden Shackelford Jahvon Quinerly Alex Tchikou Possibly Leaving: JD Davison Jusuan Holt Keon-Ambrose Hilton

Thanks AUreo I knew Jarace hadn’t signed so I guess he has now.

I’m with the others. We are limited on scholarships. How many decides to move on at the end of the season will tell a lot. I guess we are still in play for Joyful Hawkins. He’s one of those 3-4 year players that Bruce loves to build depth on. Zion Cruz I haven’t heard even mentioned associated with AU in months now

That all makes complete sense. The portal should bring weapons at any position of need due to the magic Bruce and Co work year after year.

I don't think Flan returns fwiw and Kessler is 50/50 IMO

Where's Flanigan going? Transferring? He's G league at best right now. I love Allen but he can't go after this year unless he catches fire the rest of the season.

Offshore line opened at 7.5 for Tuesday. Adjustment line tonight would be anybody's guess.

Basketball recruiting isn't really like football recruiting. Hard to look at rankings and judge whose truly doing a better job at recruiting. Most teams consistently in the top 25 rely heavily on four year players with maybe only one "One and Done" 5*/high 4* guy

If it adjusts down at all, can't see it being lower than 6. My guess is 7-8.5. They've been cashing checks.

If it gets to -9 I'm going to put some money on Alabama.

whatever their decisions, I wish them the best, but I don’t see either making an nba roster next season. Kessler’s size gives him a chance, but he needs to get stronger and more versatile to make a roster in the nba. Flanigan has an nba body, but his game isn’t at nba level at this point.

Kessler is mocked in almost every draft anywhere from around 15-40ish. I’d say he goes. He’s probably somewhere in between those 2 extremes probably late first early second. I’m not sure how much more he can improve his stock if on a team next year not winning as much which I have no idea if he will or not but hard to win many more then we are now. Or he just goes bananas and shoots the 3 at 30plus percent.

the team’s winning percentage isn’t going to matter much to nba scouts. He can improve his strength (especially his lower body) and his shooting to improve his stock. I see him as a second round guy if he goes this year. He might get into the first round, but he’s going to need significant development to get minutes in the nba.
