Based on your post, I bet Auburn will be really hurting to lose all that $ you have been donating

I'm completely in support of your right to quit a job that requires a mandate to sustain its business model.

Vaccinate or else. The American business model huh.

Institutions of academic research sucking on the corruptive federal tit. Hooray business models and fancy brick and mortar buildings. .

I hope one of these days you can enjoy the shithole that you seek.

frick you for bringing in Pat Dye to this. He would’ve never made anybody choose between a vaccine they are uncomfortable with over losing their jobs.

As so elegantly stated by many “fact checkers” and experts made when Trump declared he had absolute powers for pandemic restrictions. The president does not have the power to usurp the states power to make decisions based on the health of its citizens.

The State has the right to require vaccines or not to require vaccines. The University choosing to ignore the orders of the governor is a violation of the constitution and thus trampling upon the freedoms of the citizens of Alabama. The states rights were held up in a 1905 Supreme Court decision.

Feel free to look up all the law cited by the “fact checkers” and experts when Trump declared his power as president to decide restrictions and not the states. The same people who have now fallen silent as Biden executes mandates with threats.

There’s that short sightedness again.

You realize you're comparing an apple and an orange, right? If the Federal mandate were for private citizens wholesale, then yeah we've got a constitutional problem addressed by the 1905 decision.

This is for employees working for federal contractors. No one is being forcibly vaccinated; it's a condition of employment that anyone can decline and go work elsewhere.

That's a cool story and all, the problem is that isn't what the fed government is doing. Federal government is choosing how to spend federal budget. Trump could and did do this to certain degrees as well

Appreciate the effort though

It’s a state school. Not a federal school.

It's a federal contractor. That's the issue here.

Ahh so it’s a political choice by Auburn after all. Because it’s a politically driven mandate.

Would it be worse for Auburn to lose Federal or State money?

I don’t imagine many in Montgomery are happy with the stance.

Ivey has said vaccine mandates are a no go in the state of Alabama, as far as I understand.

Are we about to find ourselves jeopardizing state funding?

The mandate isn't actually a mandate. Auburn isn't forced to do anything and can ignore it.

The problem with doing that is they can't be a federal contractor which means all federal funding is cut. Say goodbye to ROTC, research grants, federal education grants, federal student loan grants and many other things

Auburn is enforcing because failing to do so would lose 25% of its revenue. We could not function as we know it without that $

Now do a scenario where State funding is cut.

I’m sure enough mad Alabama elected officials could whittle away 25% of Auburn’s funding.

We will see if Ivey has the gumption to bring Auburn to heel.

By the way. The university spokesperson cited it is a federal law, and the mandate is not a federal law.

You're absolutely right, if the state cut Auburn funding by >$200m as punishment then Id guess Auburn would change course. It would be the right move

At that point, Auburn should just close its doors though. Being punished by $200m is basically a death sentence

You guys seriously think our state government is going to punish the two flagship universities for bringing millions of federal dollars to the state?

Actually, now that I think about it it doesn't sound so far-fetched after all.
