So lets see so far, KJ leaving, Lindsey leaving, Steele leaving, now Stidham leaving. I guess it is just what happens when you have a good year everybody leaves.

Since 2010 Auburn has had only 2 QBs stay/start for more than 1 year (Nick Marshall and Sean White). If Stidham leaves that would mean 7/9 of our QBs have basically been one and done. Tough to build a program around a position that is key to the offense's success.

I think priority #1 for Gus needs to be ensuring he has solid QBs as backup. Seems like he's done that with Malik but there's always the possibility he could be a bust like Jeremy. From the inside it just looks like we've had some crap luck with these guys.

I dont know what 2019 will look like, but its not the strongest of QB classes in this year's draft. Baker's size is a big concern, Darnold just doesnt appear ready. The Memphis kid played against lesser competition which could or could not be an issue. JS is going to graduate so he has his degree and a lot of shelf life for football - he could definitely be tempted. He seems to be genuinely be having a ball in Auburn, so that could keep him here. If we some how won a NC, i think the likeliness goes up exponentially. I guess we will see, but I am just gonna enjoy the ride for now.

IF, and big If, Stidham did leave and assuming Fields doesnt enroll early, any chance we could swoop back in? With Malik, Gatewood and hopefully Bo, I really dont care, just curious.

If we win out he'll climb the draft ladder even higher, it'd be hard for him to stay. Same with KJ.

I said after the IB Saturday, Stidham was going to be having a fun night that night. He's probably icing his crotch from all the poon this past weekend.

He has a pretty girlfriend who is a soccer player at Baylor that is very good at kicking balls.

If he stay's he could possibly win the Heisman a Natty and be a top 5 pick!!! If he goes I'm guessing late 2nd or 3rd round.

I hope he stays!

Auburns spread is different from their spread. They run more of a pro spread combo with lots of routes and stuff.

Chip taking a head job at a small school like USA could have a bearing on his decision.

I just tweeted Mel Kiper about where Stidham might fall. Will let you know if he responds.

You read “spread won’t help his stock” as “spread will kill his stock”.

That’s a reach.

Now, Watson had two unbelievable seasons where he threw for 4.5k and 4K yards, with 80ish? touchdowns, at a 67% completion rate.

Trubisky is a great comparison, actually. Drafted as a Junior after only a year starting. A lot of yards, high completion %, phenomenal td/int ratio.

Watson had full reigns of th clemson offense that certainly has much more going on than Auburn’s. I don’t know much about UNC’s offense under Trubisky.

I think Lindsey has closed that gap some and Stidham has been noted for his football IQ. Might be a wash, really.

I think the ‘18 draft is a bit more QB heavy

Have to imagine this is the biggest drag on Stidham's draft stock.

NFL teams only care about skills and aptitude, not stats or pointless awards. If we win it all, Stidham is obviously a major threat to leave early as he will be riding heavy momentum. Often times it is more favorable for quarterbacks to ride the momentum versus coming back which just leads for more pigeonholing (the more you look at a player, the more flaws you inevitably find). This is why the common theme in the NFL draft is that next year's QB class is always better, and then a year later all those guys who were supposed to be "better" end up to be perceived just as flawed as the guys from the year prior. Deshaun Watson is a good example of a guy who got more and more critiqued the more games he played at Clemson. By the time draft day actually fell, there wasn't even a consensus on whether or not he had NFL QB skills regardless of his accomplishments at Clemson.

Stidham has more than enough qualities (accuracy, release, ball placement, intangibles, etc) to intrigue NFL teams.

I remember when Matt Linehart came back for his senior year and lost the national championship and was then drafted 10th. He likely could've been drafted #1 by the 49ers after his junior year.
