OL is what it is. That’s a sad sack of a position group right now. Pappoe and McClain should see a full game.

Hopefully the secondary group coaches see the Coach Corn firing and spend more time on alignments and assignments

It's above my pay grade, but AU is almost dead last nationally in pass defense, so something needs to change. We aren't giving up a ton of explosives, but teams are dinking and dunking on us down the field and QB's are having field days. We are padding their stats. PSU's QB had over an 80% completion percentage. (I think it might have been closer to 90%).

Only way to solve that is with press man. Of course, press man is high risk high reward. If the other team out-athletes you, it is dangerous.

I hope Mason is into this job. I heard him say in his intro presser something that piqued my interest. He said "To be honest, I thought I was done with college coaching for a while, I planned on going to the NFL." I hope he is not pulling a Rocker on us and just waiting for that NFL call. I mean I never expected him to stay past a couple seasons anyway, but I hope he isn't checked out already.

This is why I am more of a fan of hiring young and hongry coaches to coordinator positions. They want the job, they want to succeed, and they will stick around a while.

I forsee - to jville's pleasure - us playing a bunch more man, and we'll blitz a bunch more. I don't know if we can communicate well enough to play heavy zone right now.

The LSU OL is bad and they can't run the ball so I'm dissapointed if Mason moves off his teaching/training his scheme.

How are we gonna make OL changes. We don’t have 2 tackles on the roster much less anyone to come in to replace the guys we have at OT

Do we need to run a bunch of screens to slow down the rush?

Here's what's perplexing to me. That same OL group played lights out against PSU, then shite the bed against GA St. It was almost like we had 5 different guys out there yesterday.

Maybe not, but they have to be better than Ga St. Right?

I really thought our guys might be literally hung over...

I'm sure I said the same thing in the game thread. Almost every single player looked sluggish and like they'd rather be anywhere but out on Pat Dye Field.

I read somewhere that Harsin said he switched up personnel at every position group hoping to find a spark. It culminated with him benching Nix, but he said that at no point did he consider changing the offensive line. He said it would immediately be detrimental.

I'm not sure how to feel about that. On one hand, I love it. They think that's the best group and are gonna work through any issues to try and improve. The past few years under Gus, it seemed like our O line wasn't set u til game 4 or 5 every year.

On the other hand, it kinda lets me know whatever is behind this group is absolute slop garbage. A couple of injuries and we may not have an fcs level O line.

Of course, yes. Just wish we had that PSU game back after seeing our performance against GA State

I think the quote came from his press conference. I interpreted it as him saying OL just isn't a group you want to sub during a game.

I did not get the impression that he had much confidence in them, but just thought it would cause more chaos to mix them around in-game.

Would you hire Mason in the NFL after watching AU's pass defense so far this season? He may have a hard time coaching anywhere after this year.
