Yep. I don't know who said this, but they're not wrong
You two are a couple dumb motherfrickers to if you think this is true... nick saban couldn’t even win two national titles with nick saban talent the last two years.

I am as harsh a Malzahn critic as could exist and thought his raise was frustrating but the comments given by the OP are kind of ridiculous
And even if true, setting the bar at what Nick Saban can do is the reason why SEC schools have had the crazy turnover they’ve had at HC, which hasn’t always ended well.

Im sure someone covered this, but I think you are making the decision for the exension seem like it was done in a vacuum. I agree that he’s probably not worth what he’s going to be paid, but with the insane amount of jobs open last year and lack of enough quality candidates, I don’t think we could have afforded to let him walk. It would have been seen as basically firing him after the season we just had and trying to hire a coach with a lame duck AD and new President. It would’ve ended up like UT.

The story was his ante was upped because of negative recruiting. There was still a valid contract with years left. Spin was AU couldn't guarantee mamma-n-daddys the same HC five year's out. If that was Gus's main concern, his gripe, and motivation, then a simple extrapolation of current value should have sufficed. I might be jaded, but the whole extension has always had a certain agent tainted fish smell to me.

Laughable.
On the rare times Bama's talent level dips a tiny bit, he doesn't even win the fricking SEC, much less the national championship.
And Auburn, in general, is out-talented in the SEC by Bama, UGA, LSU and, in typical times for them, UF. If Tenn ever had their shite together we'd likely be equal at best with them in talent.

So far, Gus has had a problem closing seasons.
For sure.
He's actually better in SECCG game's post-season (1-1) than he is in bowl games (1-3).
The Birmingham Bowl ain't much of a badge of pride.

The biggest thing that bothers me about Gus' coaching is the lack of halftime adjustments and how he sticks to the game plan no matter how ineffective the original game plan is.
He actually DID adjust against LSU last year, sometime late 2nd quarter.
Unfortunately.
