Dude was a total failure

Couldnt raise money

Cant hire a basketball coach
Cant hire a baseball coach
Football coach never done anything

And he single handily killed the swimming program

That’s nice and all but he should have been fired for gus’ contract alone.

It's a non-revenue sport. Simmer down now.

We have seldom, if ever, had a better sports time than we are having currently. Jacobs isn’t here. Coincidence? Probably not. Good riddance.

That stupid, fat smirk is enough to make me hate him anyway.

You could also argue in his absence (meddling nature removed) our coaches are beginning to flourish.

Meh, he got lucky with Butch bc Butch had previous Auburn ties and that was Jacobs MO, hiring people with Auburn ties. He again got lucky with Bruce bc of the timing, and it was an obvious hire that the fanbase was clamoring for, idk if Jacobs would have gone after Bruce if the fanbase wasn't screaming for Bruce and JJ wasn't already in a place where he was desperately trying to appease the fans.

I'll give JJ credit for getting Auburn Arena built, and he was good at shaking hands and kissing up to the right asses to raise money, but I'll take Greene all day everyday over the country bumpkin who had never held a job outside of Lee County until we fired him.

Greene will still have to prove himself with making hires though when it comes time to replace Gus (coughBillClarkcough)

I’m not sad he’s gone.....but like it or not, he played a role in our final 4 run as well as our first cws berth in 22 years.

He played a role, but him hiring Bruce wasn't some brilliant move that only he would have made. It was an obvious move that nearly anybody would have made under the circumstances

He may end up being the greatest AD we've ever had, but to attribute the current success to him is a bit premature. I do respect the thought someone else made about perhaps the work environment being less toxic allowing the coaches to do their thing without fear of micromanagement. That does make sense to me. I like Greene and hope he does a great job but this is more the fruit of Jacob's labor than Greene's. Remember we were a walk-off homer away from being here last year.

This is my take too. I think the culture of the department is much improved under Greene, and he seems way more personable with coaches, athletes, admin, and the fans (especially the fans). I think this overall leads to a situation where you have all your employees performing better with less stress.

Pretty accurate here. The water was already getting hot for him in early 2014, and if he didn't make a splashy hire there, it would've been even worse. Bruce was the only splashy name on the market, and I'm damn glad we hired him.

Jay Jacobs was blamed for WAY more than he deserved. Also doesn’t get full credit for Pearl although some other ADs would consider him untouchable.

Pretty much on the fence with him. He wasn’t bad though.
