In NIL age, this shite actually can. The more people you meet and ingratiate yourself too, the more likely they will give to your NIL war chest. It’s politics 101 and actually now has a direct impact.

^This, along with it helping to build good will among the band, student body and alumni. It also shows the band that you appreciate their hard work and commitment. Every coach should do this. It's a no brainer.

How do you know this? Not confronting you. Just curious.
Because I may or may not know a person who was in the band for the last 4 years and works for the AUMB now.
What is your source?
Edit: upon clarification with this mythical individual - they remember Gus stopping by practice in their freshman year.
But still the question - you can confirm he went every year?

I thought it was well known that Sandman was the Band Geek of the Auburn sports board...

So are the band members donating to NIL?

You're right, they will never be anything other than poor band members and NIL will only be needed for this year. No way can they possibly become contributors later.
Like it or not this NIL angle is a decent argument and one I did not consider. I was almost agreeing with some of your position, but that makes sense. It can also be directly linked to winning games by improving the talent level of the team.

I think beatbammer and a couple of others have affiliation with the band as well, unless I am misremembering.

I'm glad Bruce never bought pizza for students. That shite wouldn't have mattered anyway.

And that delivered Bruce exactly 0 wins. There was no way we were going to let Leath fire Bruce. Its because of the wins and biscuits.
Harsin brought biscuits to students.
Do we have any sales reps here?
Reps bring gifts all of the time. Chic-Fil-A to tickets...But if person or product sucks all them gifts wont matter.

Closed many a deal on customer trips and the gifts help in the relationship building aspect, but yes, your products, parts availability, or service is bad, it's a no go.
However, without building the relationship you don't sell much either. They also buy from people they like. Relationship in sales is number 1. Then you can sell the value of your product and get sales.

And what would have happened if you would have gave them shitty service/products after you closed the deals?
Making friends with everyone is great and a lot of fun. But after the fact, the product needs to be good.
I think freeze is going to do fine. I’m very impressed with his recent recruiting. We still have a ways to go there, but the improvement is very positive.
Now, hopefully that Recruiting will equal wins on the field for Auburn. It will be the only thing he is judged by down the road. Which has been my point of this entire thing.

Coach Dye (at least in my years) never visited the band, but that was a less emotionally-driven time and Coach Dye visiting the band never even crossed our mind. The AD was the AD and the band was the band. Wasn't a big deal.
True story follows. When Auburn went to the 1982 Tangerine Bowl (Bo vs. Flutie) the band showed up to the stadium for the game and Dr. Walls (the Band Director) met with the AU AD representatives present and asked them to direct him to the section reserved for the band. The reaction he got in return was a look of shock and embarrassment. The AU AD/Ticket Office had forgotten to reserve a section in the Tangerine Bowl for the band. In their defense I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose. Everyone knew the band was traveling to the bowl game and money had been budgeted for travel and motels, but AU at that point had been so out of practice at going to bowl games (before 1982, the last bowl game Auburn had gone to was the 1974 Gator Bowl) that actual SEATS fell through the cracks somehow.
However, the end result actually ended up being pretty good and pretty damned fun. The Tangerine Bowl at that time wasn't a prime facility, kind of old and broken down, and still had some rickety wooden bleachers actually ON THE FIELD directly behind one of the end-zones that they didn't sell tickets for. In any normal situation for that game, those bleachers would have been empty. Just think of old, broken-down wooden bleachers at a Little League baseball park. So that was really the only choice the band had. So off we all went to those end-zone wooden bleachers. And, if memory serves, every touchdown scored in that game came right at us into that end-zone. We were so close to the playing field we could hear the hitting and the grunting.
We had a damn blast on those old arse bleachers.
Anyway, like I said, true story. Anyone who wants to verify can look up old video of the 1982 Tangerine Bowl and see the band sitting their happy asses in those old rickety bleachers in that end-zone.
