Stability/Portal. Every top end player we have would be gone and we’d be right back where we were pre Hugh.

Stability isnt the only end goal nevermind that our recruiting isnt stable.

That would be three straight losing seasons under Freeze in that scenario . What's so special keeping certain players if you know how little Freeze will squeeze out of them.

But with Hugh we are a 6 win team.

So "stability/portal" over wins?

This is essentially Hughs first season with his “team”.

Yall may not like it but Hugh and a majority of the fans chose to support Hugh’s decision to build from high school instead of the portal. Hugh will win at AU. He will win this season maybe not a championship but a respectable SEC team.

Hugh will be back next season because the money folks want him back. He has their support and they know starting over means more money investing into the program to retain or get new players.

Well I hope he coaches HIS TEAM better than he coached the AUBURN team the last two seasons. Because he suked at it

You feel like he has some kinda Zen thing going with his team that he didnt the past two years?

Lets see how that fan support works if he does go 6-7 again

You could be right. I mean it is Auburn we are talking about here

He should be fired for such results.

Is Auburn (or the $$$ folks) still paying any of the former coaches still?

If so, could the money folks pony up to pay a fired Freeze and staff and still have funds to hire a good proven coach?

and fund a new set of players due to turnover?

You’re right about that. He definitely needs to win that’s for sure.

At some point that vein is going to run dry

On paper, the last three recruiting classes (of the teams we play), only Alabama and Georgia have outdone us.

Texas A&M has hardly anyone left from that 2022 class so they probably have less.

And this portal we picked up 4 starters at least, far better than A&M or Oklahoma.

I say we roll into JHS 6 and 0 against the mutts and their vaunted QB, Pistol, Shooter, Gunner, whatever his name is, aint so hot. Visions of standing in the stadium in Athens in 1979, Georgia's first play from scrimmage we bust through the line and tackle the golden child, buck belue, for a safety......and a dislocated ankle. The whimpering of those dawg fans brought a tear to my eye.

And the commits to Auburn will come pouring in

Beating UGA and Bama is one of the main reasons we are in the coaching carousel. He needs to beat one of them at a min this year

Or the main goal has failed another year

And we move on from there

6-0 would be a nice start. But how we finish is all that matters. Auburn has some rough road games this season and I dont know what Baylor has but starting on the road on a Friday night in Texas will be no easy game for our hired hands

That game is important

I dont have a problem taking a kid like this in what will obviously be a slow recruiting cycle for us, but if this is the best we could do to generate positive PR, things are very bad.

Things are slow not very bad. I had us at Top 8 finish before starting the recruiting cycle and still have us at a Top 12 class. Depends on how many we take as well. But per player ranking I expect us to be Top 10ish.
