Freeze doesn't target TE or RB's. We just won't grab 5* at those positions when we are after WR/QB combos. And honestly, with how HS football is now, there won't be a ton of elite options there for anyone.

We have chased the elite of the elite at TE for the past 3 cycles. We have landed none.

I think we landed a couple solid TEs last cycle with Ghea and Davidson but unless massive development will be average SEC TEs. I have seen no TE development in blocking or route running.

TE is possibly our worst position group in talent and depth.

Ben A. Definitely needs to show the ability to land some real dudes and develop the ones he has. Fairweather got worse while under him.

Possibly get JC Anderson and Tiller this season would be nice pickups. I would expect Erick Smith to move to TE and put on some weight over time but is a long project player. Maybe by redshirt junior season can be a solid TE.

Target as in throws or gameplans around. Freeze has always favored WRs, and his recruiting will reflect that.

Over the past 2 seasons I think Fairweather was our most targeted receiver. I could be mistaken but I think I’m right.

Fairweather was obviously the most targeted receiver in Freeze's first year. There was no WR group.

Last year Fairweather was called upon much less and he contributed much less.

His offense is great with a good TE though. Evan Engram was nearly unstoppable his last season.

Not trying to start up the debate on this, but this should be the role for Perry Thompson IMO. Calling Engram a TE in the true sense in that offense would be a real stretch, but man was he a mismatch.

Going to go ahead and preface this that there is absolutely nothing i'm basing this on, complete just shot in the dark speculation at this point. Tin-foil hats engaged, etc

We are making the official switch to Nike in 2 weeks. Anybody think there could be some recruiting announcements set up to go alongside the July 1 Nike switch? Seems like it would be a great opportunity.

Only reason to promote Nike more then being a Nike school is if they are paying us to do more then wear their gear or donating to NIL.

So no other then just being a timing coincidence then I don’t think any recruiting commitments will be related.

Mismatch possibly. Depending on how our offense runs if he were to be in that role. If we throw 85 percent of the time he’s in the big slot the DC would just bring in another NB.

Perry’s issue isn’t physical. I’m not saying he is dumb or anything like that but he’s struggled to learn everything to do on the outside which is much easier than playing close to the box. So if he is in that role then he’s come a long way to understanding how he fits in the offense. It’s also ok that he’s taken a while to get up to speed. He’s just a true sophomore. I still expect Perry to be backup to Cam. Boundary side WR. I expect Singleton on the field side and Simmons in the slot. When 4 WRs are on the field I expect Fields to be the field side WR with Turner as his backup and Singleton and Simmons as the slots.

Nothing more annoying than a Fairweather TE.

I think we'll play to our strengths and that's not TE anymore. As far as TE recruiting (the Auburn live guys believe) the Staff has told Xavier Tiller to hold off from committing several times. If he goes to FSU it wouldn't surprise or bother me. I think this staff wants bigger fish at that position if possible.

Bad idea in general to be slow playing anyone you want in June. Summer is when most kids commit nowadays and we’re coming up on a dead period again

Exactly. Bad idea. It seems Auburn recruiting talk shows admit our recruiting depends on Freeze over performing in the fall and needing to get most of our flashy players from flipmas.

Even if we landed on a majority of our flip targets I highly doubt we will have a numbers issue. Depending on successful seasons and flips is risky business.

Yep. Holding off on announcements is one thing. Holding off on taking committments as we are in a wait and see type of position is a very dangerous game and one I don't know if we can afford to do. Big time gamble and not sure I agree with it.

Perception definitely seems like we could use some momentum. Its only June and maybe there will be some stuff that is planned closer to the end of summer, but definitely doesn't seem like we should be in a position to be waiting on bigger targets across the board.
