On this day last year Jones' recruiting thread was on page 62. Recruiting was hype.

2022 recruiting thread was not hype. Even still, that recruiting thread had 48 pages on this date

This year we are on page 37

Has Freeze gone full Haskins now that he can talk about cancer and having his daughters attend Auburn so he can pull heartstrings into a new contract?

It also could be that we started the year with a 3rd of the class already in the boat. And I don’t expect much action until the season gets going. The top dogs need to see the program heading in the right direction.

Our fans want results. Getting a Perry Wright or Derek Cooper would be amazing but I think we've won this war before. We got the elite glass and went 5-7. I know..... I know how important this is, but I'm only giving a reason as to why the hype just isn't there this year. It's time to win.

The recruits are learning how to play the money game. Keep coaches at a distance and drive up the price.

Still I think we will have more than half of our class committed prior to the season.

The recruits who are playing "money games" have handlers/agents.

They all do if they are players we are interested in.

Even before NIL, summer (June) was becoming the critical recruiting period. Not too much was seriously happening before then and anyone that committed early was a flip risk

That has certainly intensified now. There’s also less to follow now that the best deal probably matters the most, and especially when these deals can go to kids days before signing day even without them visiting.

Recruiting sucks now whether we are doing well or not when we all know commitments are more worthless than ever and half the time just used to drive up the price for another program to make a splashy flip later in the process. There are also several programs who can outbid us late for pretty much any player we thought we had all along. Also, even if you do get over the line and sign them there's a 50% they'll be a bust and a decent chance they will leave before they see meaningful snaps if they aren't on the field immediately.

Like the sport in general it's just not really fun anymore

I said it before NIL began and I will say it again. NIL will and has changed what we all loved and enjoyed about CFB. Many fans will adjust and continue to support the sport and others will be put off by the change, and watch from a distance.

Your post is spot on in my opinion.

Boy these DL/edge recruits are something.

Zion Elee gonna be expensive
Trenton Henderson, my favorite, not just rushing but can hold the edge and anticipates the play before just penning back his ears....and he can pin back his ears
Anthony Jones, he end up strongside?
Bryce Perry Wright strongside, eventually interior?
Hezikiah Harris will be very good
Jaquez Wilkes recruiting at LB at 6foot 4 and 220lbs now.

Inside, Vodney Cleveland, Tico Crittendon, Earnest Rankins, Jareylan McCoy and I heard Dereon Albert mentioned on JLee podcast.

One heck a crew to be getting visits from most of them

I’d be shocked if he didn’t sign with Auburn. He’s just on a visit high.

I hope. He hung out with the Falcons pick and has been showing some UGA love.
