I obviously don’t know the right answer. It’d be great to eventually hit on a HS guy. At the same time, it’s hard to ignore that most of the top programs recently have been led by transfers.

You also can’t reasonably pay for a HS QB every year and expect to hold them all. One, it’s expensive and secondly they’ll transfer eventually for playing time.

As far as Knight goes, if Ole Miss and Lane wants him, shouldn’t we? If we’re looking to Kiffin’s success with QBs, seems like he may know more than we do.

It’s $34, bro. Bo Jackson would be ashamed of you. Take a lap!

I cant remember who Ole Miss has lined up but if they are comfortable with their QB position and want to nourish a pet project then Deuce is house money. Very low risk.

I think they have a couple of low-4* high school guys after Dart, who is a senior.

So they’re kinda in the same spot as us.

I’m guessing if Ole Miss can afford Knight and a transfer, we can too. Or not, Kiffin thinks Knight isn’t too far from the field

Kiffin takes care of QB recruiting to get his bills paid. Literally grabbed one guy from Okie State just to sit the bench. If Kiffin is relying on prayers then he isnt interested in being there and waiting for our call.

Come to think of it 61% of Ole Miss' starters are out of eligibility after this season. Kiffin never watched moneyball if he thinks he can buy a bunch of great players and a pricey project

Im just pointing out they’re also going into next year without a proven/obvious starter, for Kiffin, that has meant they’re in the transfer market.

I doubt they’re gonna pay Knight the money we think Knight commands to ride pine. It’s what we’re also saying is maybe a dumb idea.

Either way - We’ll know these answers soon enough, at least. I’d think if we can’t hang on to Knight we’d at least have more money to spend on a portal QB. Just concerned that Freeze has mentioned it’s not his strength

How does anyone feel about Thomas Castellanous, QB from BC? He just entered the portal
I'm a big fan. I don't think he has NFL potential or anything like that, but he can be a very good college QB. I've watched a lot of their games and the BC roster is about as bad as ours was. The best WR he's had there is O'Keefe and he had to retire from football. He hasn't had as good of a year this year, but he's also playing in a pro style offense that he just doesn't fit in. With that said, as much as I like him and I think he could start and win games for us, because of his limitations I would also bring in another transfer to compete for that job. Too much is at stake to take any chances.

He's leaving now because of it, but he was already going to transfer in the off season. He's just getting a head start at this point.

No thanks then. We’ve been suffering 2 years because of a starter that got benched at MSU.

I’m hoping Wazzu’s Mateer enters the portal. Dude looks like a stud but what do I know.

Mid season highlights

He got injured a couple of games ago and has been struggling since.. part injury, part no one else on the roster stepping up. I'm not trying to sell him as a savior though. Just think he would be a good add to compete for the job.

Castellanous is under 6 ft but is mobile and accurate passer. Georgia kid I think. I like his game and he could run RPO

Their backup is a redshirt freshman (Austin Simmons) who has attempted 30 passes this season (60% completion) and has thrown 2 TD's. He got into the game vs. UGA when Dart went down and he played well. Their #3 is redshirt sophomore Walker howard who was a big name transfer from LSU (Top 100 HS recruit).

They like Simmons a lot. The fact that he has already jumped Howard on the depth chart is noteworthy.

Yea I watched him play the other day they are not in a similar situation as us. That kid looked sharp and ready for the moment unlike our two year starter.

I’m guessing Howard is a transfer candidate. Im sure they like what they’ve seen from Simmons so far, just not convinced Kiffin rolls into next year betting the farm on a sophomore with 30 attempts, another sophomore that hasn’t played, and (for the sake of this argument) Deuce Knight.

Just doesn’t sound like Kiffin to me. I think they’re in the transfer market like we are, and I think he prioritizes that over signing a guy like Knight

My opinion only and a lot of what-ifs

I have a 9 and 14 year old, they both asked if Auburn has ever had a good coach or been any good at football
